They specifically sought a child with special needs, and they knew he had significant needs prior to adopting him. They were not clueless, they're just vile people. |
In China, there was a one child policy and kids were taken away from their families via the government. Some were placed due to abuse/neglect, some were placed for financial reasons, some were placed because of SN and some were taken just because the parents had a second child without permission. Who adopts from China? Someone who wants a child. In the past it was easier and safer to adopt from China than domestically. |
Do you realize how stupid you sound to think even remotely that any of their actions from adopting, to the social media to giving him away were ok? Do you understand the issues for the child and other families trying to adopt from China. Families like them are why other families have been prevented from adopting. |
Yeah, but that policy is no longer in effect and boys are more highly valued. Girls were the ones far more likely to be placed for adoption with the one child rule, not boys. Yes, people adopt internationally but unless you are willing to take on the issues that you should have had some clue about with this particular child, don't do it. |
That goes for any adoption |
Can a person be banned from adopting, again? |
New Buzzfeed article with quotes from the Ohio State Agency (they are not involved in the process) and the adoption agency (no comment but the spokesperson was critical of Myka).

Holy shit. How is this legal???? The state is not involved and the adoption agency they used is not involved? |
She made an agreement with an individual person? Like a PP said, is that legal? There should be strict laws prohibiting child swapping. If there is no home study, or at least a background check, there are no safeguards in place to protect a child. Wtf. That is outrageous. Her and her husband are beyond disgusting. |
I actually think giving him away was ok if they were advised by medical professionals. |
They didn’t know how severe they were until they brought him back to the US and had doctors here evaluate him. |
Medical professionals do not advise people to give away children. It doesn't happen.,The wording is off to hide something. |
They were warned that any issues would be downplayed and would be worse than they were told, but they ignored that warning. |
I wish we had some way of knowing if this boy is truly safe and in good hands. |
I'm a dirty hippo. Did anyone upthread post the pictures of what these abusive idiots thought was an appropriate response to the child sucking his thumb? |
