In China, there was a one child policy and kids were taken away from their families via the government.  Some were placed due to abuse/neglect, some were placed for financial reasons, some were placed because of SN and some were taken just because the parents had a second child without permission.

Who adopts from China?  Someone who wants a child.  In the past it was easier and safer to adopt from China than domestically.  [/quote]
