She made an agreement with an individual person? Like a PP said, is that legal? There should be strict laws prohibiting child swapping. If there is no home study, or at least a background check, there are no safeguards in place to protect a child. Wtf. That is outrageous. Her and her husband are beyond disgusting.

No government agencies use "rehoming" check this out...

Completely legal. They can just do a poa and still legally be the parents or just sign consents and the new family files for adoption no agencies or oversight involved.

They will have more kids...

They’ll be rehomed when they are teenagers.

Oh, but those are their “actual” children. Different rules, apparently.

I don't know. When they stop fitting into the perfect mold for youtube they may be sent away.

Do you realize how absolutely stupid you sound?

Do you realize how stupid you sound to think even remotely that any of their actions from adopting, to the social media to giving him away were ok? Do you understand the issues for the child and other families trying to adopt from China. Families like them are why other families have been prevented from adopting.

I actually think giving him away was ok if they were advised by medical professionals.

Medical professionals do not advise people to give away children. It doesn't happen.,The wording is off to hide something.

They tell you to get help or residential care but not give your kid away. There are tons of situations like this but they are quiet and child welfare and the courts let people get away with this stuff with no accountability.

They specifically sought a child with special needs, and they knew he had significant needs prior to adopting him. They were not clueless, they're just vile people.

They didn’t know how severe they were until they brought him back to the US and had doctors here evaluate him.

Yes they did. One doctor advised against it. He has seizures in utero or a brain tumor. Different stories but there is a reason for it all. It was not hidden.

These people are frauds. I hope the husband loses his YouTube followers/sponsorships too.

They wanted a sn kid, but not one that was too sn. Were apprised of this kid’s needs but after a few years dealing with SNs doesn’t seem so cute as it did when he was little. This kid doesn’t fit with her vocal fry voice, perfectly sculpted eyebrows, penchant for home make overs and deep cleaning of the house. the “new” mommy apparently has the “‘medical training” despite Kyla being a registered nurse. The husband acts like his wife adopted a recalcitrant puppy that they had to “re-home.” It took both of you to fail this kid. You’re both YouTubers making a mint, so you have the resources to help but I guess meltdowns don’t go with photo shoots of maternal bliss of doing it all.

YouTubers and sponsors, dump the chump James Stauffer who would give up his kid after 3 years.

Correct. It was abundantly clear that this child was going to have MAJOR issues and the first doctor (correctly) advised them against adoption, probably also aware they had multiple other children. The doctor had been on board and saw the brain scans sent from China and changed her tune and said it was a bad idea and they should halt the adoption proceedings. For whatever dimwitted reason, they thought they knew better. I'm guessing a "God and love cures ALL!" mindset. Listen, taking on a child with these issues is not for the faint of heart. I wouldn't do it if not thrust upon me biologically because I know my capabilities and I'm not cut out for it, particularly with 4 kids already. But they knew, were advised against it, and moved forward. That's all on them.

plus in the middle of this she got pregnant aagain and put out requests in blog adoption world for information on adopting another special needs kid asking what is considered difficult but really isn't to manage. They need to investigate who she gave that child to and make sure that family never adopts again EVER !

Anonymous wrote:I did not read all the pages of this thread but these issues are not as clear-cut as people like to make them out to be. Based upon my own experiences as an adoptive parent, I could see medical and psychological professionals giving the advice that finding an alternative home for one child would be a better course than continuing to have the entire family---including the other minor children---live in the current home environment. I know of situations where one child has had to go live with relatives, or in a residential treatment center, because the child's volatility in the home endangered the physical and psychological well-being of the other children. We had to send one of our children to an RTC for a six month stint because I was not going to have our other children live in a violent household. These are tragic circumstances. I am horrified, however, in general by youtubers/influencers, what-have-you---who would violate the privacy of children by revealing all this on the internet.

It is a clear cut, especially based off your post. There is a huge difference in sending a child to a relative for respite/support, or even a RTC. You have gone to your breaking point, done everything you can and doing more by getting the help they need. By sending a child to RTC, you are still their parents, you still have legal rights and if they can transition home, you would take them home. This is a 4 year old child who came from another country with a different language, customs, etc and on top of that had a brain injury which was disclosed at placement. It was clear that there would be long term issues. They still choose to take it on. And, now they got their money's worth, he is hampering their lifestyle and they gave him away. Who gives away their child and immediately goes on vacation?

We adopted a child. No one would have predicted SN. We were in therapies 5 days a week. I had to quit my job as cost/benefit of a nanny made no sense and I wanted consistent parenting. We did everything we could and got lucky it worked (who knows if the therapies helped or not). I cannot imagine at any point when it was hard that I would walk away. If anything, it made me more determined to find the right providers, the right help and do everything in my power to give my child a chance to be successful and if not, I was going to save every dime I could to create a trust fund to make sure they had life long care. There was no giving this child back. There was no giving this child away.

This woman never bonded with this child and he was a lot of work. They blame him for things like attachments but ultimately they never bonded as how can you just give your child away and be ok the next day. We have had some pretty bad things happen. I wasn't ok days after. I grieved for years and still grieve, especially that related to a child.

So proud of you, PP! You’re a good person. And it sounds like a great mom!

YES, legal. Horrifying but legal. So, so wrong and should be stopped, but the laws are complicated. Read this series (mentioned earlier in the thread) for more on how legal and shockingly common this is. https://www.reuters.com/investigates/adoption/#article/part1 You won’t be able to put the series down, but it will also make you sick.

The family may have had one. Who knows? This happens more than people realize. It is sick. If they do a legal adoption there will need to be a home study at some point. But, without an agency or court order no oversight. And, courts usually don’t care.
