This. She literally cannot win. She went to Uvalde and was criticized. A couple of the mothers she visited said that it wasn't a photo op, they text with her often, she remembers their kids' bdays and the anniversary of their death and texts them then...but people still say she's fake. She went to that charity for teen girls who lost everything in the fire and was criticized. The girl who started it said Meghan was lovely and kind and spent more time with her than any other celebrity or politician and went out of her way to help...but people still say she's fake.

Hell, someone posted up thread that Mindy Kaling said the "It's Sussex" bit wasn't offensive and she is still friends with Meghan and none of the people claiming "Mindy wore a revenge dress" have addressed that. How many people have to tell you Meghan is nice and that they like her before you believe them? What would be their reasoning to lie? Meghan and Harry are barely scraping by in the entertainment biz themselves, it's not like these celebrities are being nice to them for jobs.

You know, I used to be a Meghan hater too, but you know when I realized you all lost the plot? Coronation weekend. They repeatedly went online saying Meghan shouldn't go to the Coronation because it would take attention from Charles. So she didn't...AND THEN THE SAME PEOPLE SAID SHE SNUBBED CHARLES. That was when I realized she truly can't win and it became obvious what a massive hate campaign all of this has become. I'm not saying she's perfect or that it's racist to dislike her but I think a lot of you need to get a grip. She's pretentious and out of touch. She doesn't rape teenagers or collude with Nazis...those would be various members of the royal family. I really don't care if a rich lady tells me to find joy in flower sprinkles.

She is a smear of shit for her Uvalde stunt.

Meghan Markle is broadly reviled. The criticisms cannot all be from racists or monarchists. And she can’t cook or dress worth a good goddamn, even when shown in the best most controlled environment. But I’m sure the next next show will turn it all around.

Did you read my post at all before you quoted it? Because you are making my point for me.

To your point about Uvalde:

How many people from Uvalde have to tell you she was authentic before you'll stop referring to MM as a "smear of shit"? Or do victims' voices only count if they agree with you?

Agree

PP did not address your points at all and reiterated the same old prejudices.

If the Uvalde folks felt that she was sincere why do the critics want to savage her?

They addressed it. They claimed that the father of a dead child was a "famewhore cousin" willing to "fanwank" for Meghan and Harry.

That tells you all you need to know about them. Imagine saying that earnestly about the father of a 10 year old who was slaughtered in their classroom, just because you don't like a famous lady who was nice to his wife. It's a sign of mental illness, really.

I was rooting for Meghan and expecting the worst from the Baldwins, so I was surprised that I had the opposite reaction:

I liked the first 10 min of Meghan’s show, where there was good music playing and the scenery with the bees was lovely. I thought if she stuck to that format, it could be a very relaxing type of show to fold laundry etc. but once she got into the kitchen, it was pretty cringey. Two friends praising each other earnestly isn’t interesting or engaging. She needs a gay assistant or someone more fun/lively to break it the vibe so she doesn’t take herself too seriously. I don’t think I’ll watch another episode.

I thought I would hate the Baldwins/Hilaria, but was actually really fascinated by their life in NYC with 7 kids. They put it all out there, the messiness and chaos, and Alec is just funny with his quips (though he looks utterly exhausted).

Also, the naturalness of Hilaria’s hair/makeup/clothing compared to how made up and stiff Meghan looked was quite jarring.

I will continue to watch the Baldwin show, but I feel bad that I find Meghan’s show unwatchable.

Alec Baldwin is much more likable than Meghan. I think he is a smart and good person who has had some struggles in life which have humbled him and he has grown from.

I wouldn’t want to watch Hilaria or Meghan, but of the two, I prefer Hilaria because even with her grift, she actually seems less full of sh*t than Meghan.

He literally called his own child a pig lol

And yet, he is still more likable than Meghan. Alec is flawed and he is vulnerable about that. He is remorseful about his relationship with his daughter. And more impotently, he doesn’t pretend that his life is rainbow and butterflies and that the world had so much to learn from him - so here, enjoy this gift of a “reality” show he’s giving you. It’s quite the opposite - the world is intrigued by his chaotic life, so he got a contract and since he obviously wants the money, he is monetizing it.

He doesn’t pretend that his life is rainbow and butterflies because he’s literally murdered someone. Meghan has done nothing of the sort.

Do you hear yourself? Alex Baldwin is giving us the “gift” of a reality show? Babes he kept knocking up his fraud of a wife and now has to pay tuition for 30 kids. That’s why we are getting a reality show.

DP. He accidentally killed someone. That is not murder but you know that. Sorry people find him more entertaining than Duchess Sussex puttering around someone else's home using other people's ideas.

It doesn’t have to do with the fact that he accidentally killed someone. It has to do with the fact that he realizes how ridiculous it is that he is sixty something and raising seven kids under ten, and he is willing to make a mockery of that on television (even if it’s just because he needs the money.) unlike meghan, he is not there saying it’s not to insane, and here are tips to do the same thing in your life. Moreover, Alec is the interesting half of his marriage. Nobody is interested in Hilaria alone, just like nobody is interested in Meghan alone. She is only relevant because she is married to a famous prince, but she is delusional enough to think it’s her that the world cares about.

I have no interest in his show but this cracked me up!

I have not read the 38 pages of comments - but my honest take on this show - if I didn’t know anything about her - is that her personality is a little stiff and boring but some of the ideas are good. The friendship seems fake and superficial though. As I do know her background and history however- Something about it all is sad and depressing. Don’t think I’ll watch another..

I don't know why you think we should uplift someone who ridicules their friends and family on TV.

Never heard her ridicule her family. She called them out for bad behavior, like telling her to get on with it while she was suicidal and pregnant.

I really don’t care that she said curtsying is like going to Medieval Times. Do you?

It was a pretty rude thing to say about meeting your future 90 something year old grandmother-in-law. And Harry looked very uncomfortable bc it WAS uncomfortable. And the way sue addressed Mindy isn't how I would speak to my friend, in public or private. But that's fine if you act like that, just expect it to raise eyebrows.

It was not uncomfortable at all. She said the Queen was lovely but that curtsying was weird to her. If that makes you uncomfortable you need to toughen up and get a thicker skin.

I would absolutely be fine joking around with a friend. I’m sorry that you don’t seem to get along with other women so you don’t get female friendships as like an overarching. Maybe you should take a cue from Hillaria and go to a yoga class to make some friends there?

New poster. I have just been mindlessly reading this thread and laughing at some of the witty comments. But your post made me stop. You are taking things way too personally. Nobody who saw the clip, whether they like Meghan or not, thought she was joking. She absolutely was not. Now I think you need to go touch grass, PP. Meghan doesn’t know you or need you to insult a bunch of randoms on this thread in her honor.

DP. Two things:

1. Mindy Kaling thinks Meghan was joking
2. If this is the post that made you stop, you have a weird threshold for being shocked.

Umm, okay…DP? Your writing is exactly the same in all of your posts. But you didn’t want to respond as “you” because you know it’s super weird how personally you are taking things.

Pp again- and Kate is more likable than Meghan precisely because she wouldn’t nauseatingly correct someone on air for calling her Kate Middleton, and make some ornery speech about how she needs to be called “Catherine of Kent” because it’s about sharing a family name with her *kids* Meghan is self righteous, full of crap, and a narcissist. She’s annoying to watch. Kate realizes she’s a cog in the wheel of a well oiled machine and for all of her privilege, she doesn’t whine publicly about the system that’s given her this life.

You like her because she doesn’t complain. That says a lot about you.

I like Kate because she seems like a nice person. I would be fine if she chose to push back on the ridiculousness of the royal family.

I find all celebrities who complain about fame annoying. Meghan complains about the attention in one breath and in the next, begs for it.

We have no idea if Kate is a nice person. She has a very disciplined and curated image. I do like that she doesn’t beg for attention and doesn’t seem like a hypocrite. She does her job and lives her life as privately as she can. Meghan claims she wants privacy, but can’t help herself talking about how much she wants privacy. She is her own worst enemy.

I like how you reduce her complaints of extreme racist abuse that she received from the media and the family to "she complains about the attention."

She has never even claimed "extreme racist abuse" from the family, that's crazy. A few tone deaf comments, yes.

This. I have only ever seen her say someone asked how dark Archie would be...and yes, that is racist and rude for a white person to ask that. She's never said THEY were racist. She only ever said the Queen was lovely to her and then said that Kate did make her cry once but elaborated "She did apologize and I appreciated that."

All right, you all made me watch the first episode ready to mock, and… I liked it!

They seemed like actual friends/people who get along and have history, even though they are probably not super close.

She is best when she is talking about actual topics rather than talking about her feelings or various dime-story philosophies.

So she is launching this show plus her new brand "As Ever" which will be selling jam, table linens and silverware, home decor, skincare, cookbooks, stationery, and gardening tools. I don't get what she's trying to do here. She seems to be selling things that would appeal to the homesteading crowd but she wants her customers to be upper-class elite women. She would do better business if she moved to the middle of nowhere and went all in on the tradwife thing. Who in Montecito is beekeeping and canning produce?
If she were REALLY smart she would release a line of natural-fiber clothing. Women would eat that up. I don't know why she keeps trying to be the 21st century Martha over and over.

I don’t think what she’s doing is really that different than what Martha Stewart did and she also is very upper-class elite. Some people find it aspirational but I don’t see it being aimed at tradwife set. That said she would look super inauthentic living in the middle of now where. The most rural place she’s seemingly ever lived is Evanston which… is not rural.

Martha Stewart was much more relatable. While she was upper class, in the early years of her career she did much of the cooking/catering herself, took care of her own garden, cleaned her own house, made her own decorations. Martha was/is extremely talented and well versed in all the things she was speaking about and teaching others how to do.

Watched the second episode with Mindy. I am not a fancy party person (all my kids’ parties have been run-around-the-backyard types) so I definitely fast-forwarded some of the twee parts like the balloon arch and gift bags. But I loved the rainbow fruit salad!! Yes yes it’s probably on TikTok but some of us don’t go on TikTok so it’s new for us but crazy cute and simple.

There were some frenemy-ish sounding moments like when Meghan kept referring to “my husband” instead of causally calling him “Harry” but whatever, everyone has those moments. Overall it was okay but Mindy was definitely the one bringing the energy and trying to make the conversation flow. I’m guessing she did it as a favor to Netflix.

Alright, drama queen. Mindy was on The View this morning saying it was a joke and she loves Meghan, so maybe chill the f out.

Mindy said if was 9 months ago and she barely remembers filming it. And I am sure that is true. Mindy is wildly successful, I doubt she cares if Meghan is trying to take her down a notch for not referring to her as Meghan Sussex or the Duchess of Sussex or whatever we are supposed to be calling it now. She is a little above all that drama I would think.

Mindy's a weird one too. I actually love a lot of what she does on the production side and her writing for the office was A+. But she's kind of an odd bird and oddly just DESPERATE in a way that makes me a little uncomfortable. You'd think she should be rich and happy and doing well but she just smacks of insecurity. I followed her on Instagram for a minute but had to unfollow because she was such a cheap and transparent shill for anyone who even sent her a product, it kind of cheapened her "brand" in my mind. I'm not a hater, but it was almost strange to think someone of her stature would be hawking these weird goods for cash? IDK, it rubbed be the wrong way it seemed like no exposure was below her and there was no actual product testing or recommendations- X dollars and she'll sell you on car motor oil. Huh. But maybe she and Meghan have this in common!

Raise awareness. Do some actual work. Educate yourself and develop a passion for helping others. Any glimpses into her life or press coverage would be Meghan truly doing something worthwhile in the service of others.

But now to have some cheesy website shilling candles and pancake mix? How the “mighty” have fallen - she is a complete nut job who is a legend only in her own delusional mind.

Again, great you’re selling a few items but how about pledging that 100 percent of profits go to charity like Paul Newman’s line of products.

She can’t do that because she needs to generate income. Yes I know they are RICH AF, north of 20 million probably, but not rich enough to buy their mansion without a mortgage, and they are also funding everything themselves, which includes upkeep of their aging mansion and their own private security which is probably over 1-2million a year. They also have a high cost of living beyond the house and security, lots of staff, nice things, private school, private planes, Nannies etc. they need the money despite having more than 99.9% of America. They live like billionaires but are only 10s of millionaires with no income coming in aside from Meghan’s hustle.

I found myself wondering if the 8 million dollar house she filmed in is actually more in line long term with they can actually comfortably afford over the long haul. That house is lovely but then you realize they had to go bigger and have the huge mansion but really it will then require these hustles that may or may not work.

I don’t hate her, but she doesn’t uplift me. She has the opposite effect: she just makes me feel bad about myself. She is the type of woman who is a super perfectionist but wants to seem down to earth so she hides the perfectionism. I’m sure she wants to help people, and I dont’ think she is inherently bad, but her attempts to live a perfect life in a curated world are meaningless because she is always adding a sheen of messy, curated perfection (perfectly ripped designer jeans, messy hair that falls just right etc) to her world instead of dealing with reality.
