Yet another GOP shutdown?

It's pretty clear he won't approve anything with the China restrictions that are in the negotiated CR. That's why he sunk it. He's sucking up to China and looking out for his own business interests.

Well, a slim majority of GOP voters wanted a circus, so now we have a circus. Preview of the next 4 years

Then Johnson needs to negotiate with his caucus and Musk to get something done. He has the majority. He has a direct line to Musk. He has everything needed to work it out.

The Dems should not help the GOP. It makes them unpopular to help bail the GOP out. Let Americans get what they voted for!

^ example of a misread of the public mood

We aren't misreading shit. This is 100% a GOP shutdown and those who voted for the GOP need to know that and learn from their mistakes.

What mistake?

You don't think handing the reins of power to Elon Musk and causing a government shutdown first thing out of the gate are mistakes?

I would love to see Biden invite Schumer and Musk to the WH to hammer out a deal.

This is actually insane that they are letting Elon Musk dictate everything.

So now debt ceilings aren't a thing? How many times has the GOP shut down the govt because they wouldn't raise the ceiling?

Oh, but now Hairplug Hitler wants to blow another hole in the budget with a massive tax cut for the rich, so he wants to eliminate the debt ceiling altogether.

Thanks, MAGA idiots.

The fact that a CR didn't get passed and that we are on the verge of shutting down the government for Christmas and the indefinite future shows that Trump and the GOP do not have any kind of meaningful mandate and if they want to actually solve anything or accomplish anything they need to stop being idiots and demagogues and ideological extremists and drop a lot of their bullshit and actually put in the work, actually reach out and actually try to find some areas of common ground with Democrats and recognize that out of 262 million eligible voters, Trump got 76.9 million votes, or 29%.

Sorry, this is what America voted for utter chaos and gross incompetence.

We voted for an end to all this bloated spending.

Then you much HATE Trump's demand to suspend the debt limit. Amirite?

This is what happens when your party platform is fully comprised of one man’s personal grievances. It’s going to be a fun four years, not.

Actually, quite the opposite. The fact that the GOP is rolling over and showing their belly on this *before he's even in office* is a clear indicator that they'll continue to do his bidding. They'll completely change the rules so their slim majority will be able to pass whatever he desires. Strap in, folks, this will be Kaptain Kaos at full-tilt for the next four years.

And they’re rolling over for Musk, who got exactly zero votes.

For all of their complaining about "the deep state" and "unelected bureaucrats" it's gone from imaginary to real with Elon Musk's takeover of the state.

I am old enough to remember people complaining that Harris was an installed candidate. What does that make Musk?
