Bunch of nincompoops

They know how to win elections.

And how to screw up government after they win. It's been like this most of my life.

By lying and "flood[ing] the zone with shit". American voters are not savvy. This is known.

Exactly. People have short memories and are easily swayed by propaganda. It's all of human history. Amazing we've made it this far, really.

Looks like Mikey is having some trouble.

The GOP has no problem with handouts to farmers.

Speaker Mike Johnson is facing a brewing rebellion from farm district Republicans after congressional leaders failed to secure an agreement to add economic aid for farmers to the next stop-gap spending bill.

Feds are guaranteed to be paid after a shut down ends.

That's assuming they have enough to tie them over for an extended shutdown. That might be tough for lower-graded federal employees as well as for federal employees who are in high-cost-of-living areas.

But either way it's stupid. History has already shown over and over again that government shutdowns cause far more damage both functionally and fiscally than just keeping the government going in the first place.

I don't understand how Republicans still don't seem to grasp that. They are simpletons in fantasy land. They need to look at the actual numbers and impacts of a shutdown.

History has shown that once feds feel a fiscal pinch, people like ATC and TSA sick out/ engage in slowdowns. And once planes can’t fly, the shutdown ends fast.

The Democratic Party is not likely to agree to that. At least those who want to be re-elected.

If it shuts down it will be for the weekend and open in time for regular business on monday.

Betting strongly against a Christmas shutdown, just because the Congress-critters want to get home so they can be with their families and telework over the holidays. They may talk tough, but none of them want to be in DC arguing about Ag subsidies on 12/24– next Tuesday.

I do hope the Dems sit back and refuse to save Mike Johnson. Republicans own the House, they should be able to pass a CR without Dem votes. So tired of Dems being the adults in the room.

Exactly -- but if we get a CR to March - I have no idea what happens then.

Part of me thinks the Dems should just sit back and let the Republicans do their destructive and idiotic things and let America see the damage, rather than continually trying to be the adults in the room trying to reduce the damage.

All of me thinks Dems should let the GOP do whatever they want to do. Stop rescuing Johnson.
