Of course the GOP is still squabbling over how much disaster assistance to pass. 10 days to go.

Meanwhile Americans are suffering and the GOP wants to go for pointless sound bites.

Most interesting is how much help the democrats will provide. Hope they let the GOP own it.

Dems shouldn't bend over backwards to be the adults in the room. The fail should be all on Republicans.

If people don't like it then maybe they need to start electing different Republicans who WILL be responsible and WILL be adults in the room rather than the horrible playing-for-soundbites toddlers they've filled the halls of Congress with.

That's assuming they have enough to tie them over for an extended shutdown. That might be tough for lower-graded federal employees as well as for federal employees who are in high-cost-of-living areas.

But either way it's stupid. History has already shown over and over again that government shutdowns cause far more damage both functionally and fiscally than just keeping the government going in the first place.

I don't understand how Republicans still don't seem to grasp that. They are simpletons in fantasy land. They need to look at the actual numbers and impacts of a shutdown.

Part of me thinks the Dems should just sit back and let the Republicans do their destructive and idiotic things and let America see the damage, rather than continually trying to be the adults in the room trying to reduce the damage.
