Nobody face guards outside the 12, duh

Not worth my time anymore to address the PP, go back to school or watch film and you can see the Yorktown players what they did on offense. If you can't figure that out, then thats your problem.

Any predictions for tonight

I thought coming in Oakton with all the hype would win by 7 or more, but that wasn't the case. Yorktown had a game plan and came ready to play. It was a real close game pretty much the whole way through and at the end, Oakton scored 2 late goals to pull away comfortably then stalled the last 2 min or so. Both had great goaltending, but would definitely have to give the edge to the Yorktown starting goalie. If it wasn't for her, they would have been blown out, she was excellent in cage. Oakton's strength is clearly their defense along with their goalie. Yes their is 100% weak links in the chain and if you are smart coach, you can easily figure this out and exploit the weak links, there help on 1v1's is very good, but they don't pick up the offensive person they left to slide from, and she often times is wide open. Yorktown definitely has some athletes and from what i understand they are young but very well coached. So put a plus 1 in the win column for coaching for Yorktown over Oakton. Yorktown's offense was patient but also picked up the pace when they needed to and thats when they started to fluster the Oakton defense. Oakton still only has 3 impact players at middie, and the coach didn't sub one player last night (without counting the flyer they ran), so needless to say, you can see their top players getting tired toward the end of the game. Seems like to me if you take out or face guard their top 2 middies, you have crippled their offense.
All in all, it was a really exciting game to watch and still think that there are too many teams that are very evenly matched and you have to figure all of these teams will get better as the season goes along, should be fun.

Sounds like you shouldn't venture anywhere but your couch for some Netflix binge watching. Your assessment of this game only shows you likely yell "Wheels" and "Foul" on every play. Good luck trying to Face guard any of the top players from the Concorde district. Both teams are well coached and have good talent and will be teams there in the Regional as tough outs.

Was it only the 2 Oakton middies scoring vs Yorktown?

Yorktown will keep getting better.

The JMU commit at Oakton carries the entire offense on her back. Results show from Woodson and Yorktown. Whether you want to admit it or not she and Centreville’s Pitt commit are the top two strongest midfielders in the Concord District. The Oakton vs Centreville game will be a great game to watch.

Four Oakton players scored, including six goals by the JMU commit

One thing is clear from the Oakton v Yorktown game. Oakton may be the favorite in the Region but are clearly beatable. Several D1 & D3 commits on Oakton vs no college commits on Yorktown and it was close almost the entire game. Face guard the middies and minimize Oakton possession. Let's just hope those Oakton middies don't get injured when it matters.

I would be interested to see Oakton play Robinson, Battlefield or Centreville

Oakton has 3 players committed to play in college. 1 URI, 1 JMU and 1 USCGA. That is hardly “a lot” of commits as the prior post implies. The out of district schedule to include SSSA after spring break is challenging and may serve them well in close games going forward. Getting tested only makes you better.

If the Oakton Yorktown game showed Oakton is the Region favorite, what did the Centreville Yorktown game show? 10-7 game versus a 15-9 game and the Centreville Yorktown game was in the pouring rain.

Agree on this and would even take it as far as saying that they are the 2 best middies in the region if not state.

Wasn’t the Cville victory over Butterfield last year in the rain? 😂

Oakton also has a D3 commit to Gettysburg. You can’t always go by numbers of college commits, since that only speaks to Juniors and Seniors. Oakton’s JMU commit has been carrying teams since her Vienna rec days and impacts all aspects of the game. The Woodson JMU commit should be in the conversation too as one of the best midfielders in Concorde.
