Made adjustments on defense that slowed down the Oakton offense. Coach kept that game from getting away. Oakton has 5 legit midfielders that can score. Yorktown goalie played great tonite. Oakton just very balanced and with a lead are going to be tough to beat. Both teams were fun to watch and played great disciplined lax. Hats off to both programs. Good scouting game.

Over McLean? I thought McLean is supposed to be decent this year

They were very good the first half. Tied at 5 at the half. Cville seemed to wake up at the half and they just chainsawed McLean.

The McLean goalie is very very good, one of the best in the area.

So good that she allowed in 19 goals? How many did she block? Did their defense just fall asleep?

Cville woke up and just started tearing through the D and bombing her. She made quite a few stops but Cville just recovered, reset and drove in again.

Don’t overlook McLean, they played Cville to a tie for the first half.

Again this is not true - Centreville was up 8-5 at halftime. Did you all watch the right game?

Ventured out from across town to see the Oakton/Yorktown game. Very exciting game so hats off to both teams. I thought coming in Oakton with all the hype would win by 7 or more, but that wasn't the case. Yorktown had a game plan and came ready to play. It was a real close game pretty much the whole way through and at the end, Oakton scored 2 late goals to pull away comfortably then stalled the last 2 min or so. Both had great goaltending, but would definitely have to give the edge to the Yorktown starting goalie. If it wasn't for her, they would have been blown out, she was excellent in cage. Oakton's strength is clearly their defense along with their goalie. Yes their is 100% weak links in the chain and if you are smart coach, you can easily figure this out and exploit the weak links, there help on 1v1's is very good, but they don't pick up the offensive person they left to slide from, and she often times is wide open. Yorktown definitely has some athletes and from what i understand they are young but very well coached. So put a plus 1 in the win column for coaching for Yorktown over Oakton. Yorktown's offense was patient but also picked up the pace when they needed to and thats when they started to fluster the Oakton defense. Oakton still only has 3 impact players at middie, and the coach didn't sub one player last night (without counting the flyer they ran), so needless to say, you can see their top players getting tired toward the end of the game. Seems like to me if you take out or face guard their top 2 middies, you have crippled their offense.
All in all, it was a really exciting game to watch and still think that there are too many teams that are very evenly matched and you have to figure all of these teams will get better as the season goes along, should be fun.

Yorktown was actually face guarding Oakton players but it didn’t stop them from getting to goal. Oakton also has other players that stepped up nicely during the game. I also believe Oakton’s crash deflected every Yorktown free position.

Probably watching 2 different games, as you can clearly see the oakton players moving the ball on the outside, then their top 3 middies having no one on them as they receive the pass and a chance to dodge 1v1. Moving on.. Any other reports out there or interesting news.

So if that was the game plan and Yorktown coach did NOT follow how are you saying Yorktown had better coaching?
