First day drop off -- MD tags

So you show up with a "Ward #" residency card, pick up some available eggs, and go home. Except on the way out, you see people emerging from several cars with MD tags entering the store and showing the same "Ward #" cards, and then they get some eggs, too. You know there are a limited supply of eggs at your store, and a limited number of "Ward #" cards, so...are you concerned or not?

The supermarket manager has egg on her face.

So sure, I blame people stealing a high quality education they can't afford for their kids less than I blame other kinds of fraud and theft.

The schools can make doing so next to impossible if they cared to (oyster, for instance, does this). If they don't, then blame the administrators and consider why they don't care and if your own world views match that of the leaders' of your school. If they don't care to address something you care so deeply about, that tells you something about whether the school is for you.

I don't see why it's the responsibility of DC taxpayers to provide a free education for out of District students. If the folks in PG, for example, are lacking what they view as high quality education, then why did they continue to vote for crooked buffoons like Wayne Curry and Jack Johnson who spent their money on things like the ridiculous "Gorgeous Prince George's" PR campaign, rather than the schools? Or who stole the county's funds outright? I think that the daily line of school commuters from MD into DC frankly has even more to do with locational convenience to a parent's workplace and the nearly free before-and-after-school care that DC offers.

For everyone that doesn't understand the angst of the DC residents -- it's the brazen attitude and actions of the cheaters. They don't even try to hide it.

If you're skilled enough to do it without any detection, no one will complain. Because we won't know.

Parents want schools with parental involvement. Cheaters give no money and no investment.

They are a negative investment, a disinvestment in DCPS or charters, really.

Every time you're called in your bullshit, you resort to this, "oh, you must be a poor pg resident." Wrong. I'm just not a busy body asshole. I treat others like I want them to treat me. I raise my children by this standard. And life is so much more pleasant when you don't run around thinking everyone is trying to cheat you.

Seriously, it is. I hope you reach a place--perhaps when your kids are in college--unless, what if their spaces are taken by others who get affirmative action--where you can relax and stop whining about problems that are not yours and probably do not exist.

Actually you are a busy body asshole. Otherwise you wouldn't be so obsessed with getting into our business of catching people committing crimes. Stop trying to protect the guilty.

Most from the County don't care about a high quality education. If they did, they wouldn't use DCPS EoTP. What they care about is the convenience of dropping their kids off near where they work and a bonus is extended day (i.e. extended daycare) which is even more free daycare. My using DCPS, that's 1 hour to 2 hours less of paid daycare because they get the kid before the commute.

And the test is, where does the kid principally reside? That's one place, not several. And usually the kid resides with mama, unless she's crazy. Daddy giving paystubs with tax withholding and utility bills, or grandma doing the same, isn't where the kid principally lives.

PRINCIPALS - GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND CHECK OUT RED FLAGS OF OUT-OF-STATE CARS.

Most principals aren't DC residents, so what do they care.....

Oh yeah, and a DC Title 1 school is an added benefit because it's free food all day. Like I said, it ain't 'bout education, It's about saving $. It's fraud.

Just curious if you think PGCPS is superior (more rigorous, safer, better facilities) to DCPS EoTP?

So now you're bravely outing forth the theory that these pg people don't care about education. They're just in it for the free food and daycare?

This isn't about residence fraud. This is about you being a psychotic, racist, not very bright, disturbed person.

Or they live in DC and are ducking DC taxes by keeping their cars registered in MD (where there is no inspection/personal property tax obligation). I have a coworker who lives in my neighborhood in the VA 'burbs and still has MD tags on her car (it's been more than a year since she moved to VA).

Or military - active duty are not required to transfer tags.

Or their car is in the shop, and they rented a car, borrowed one from a relative, etc . . .

Or they are among the many many kinship care providers and foster parents of DC wards who live in MD.

Or they're the parent with weekend custody (it is Monday after all), and the other parent lives in DC.

Or it's an odd numbered month and a full moon.

Lot's of explanations and excuses. But the sheer numbers of MD cars don't explain it all.

There's cheating going on. Many times when DCPS or the press turns over a rock because of some other irregularity, they find the kid is really living outside DC, usually PG. The entitlement mentality is breathtaking. We recently saw it with a school board member who had fraudulently enrolled her children in the free school lunch program. The schools need to ferret out the non-DC resident kids, expel them, prosecute the parents for fraud and sue them for back tuition.

That is a few to many commas, just saying.

Three of the four biggest fuckups where students and teachers ended up in the news in the past 12 months ended up involving Maryland kids in DC schools.

And that's when the fraud comes to light, when a news story about some outrageous thing brings it out. Think about all the residency fraud that goes undiscovered, like fetid slime mold.
