We know the IRS goes after people. DCPS doesn't seem to. Anyway, I am suggesting the OP say "hello" to the other woman, talk to her and maybe she will find out that she's the divorced mom or uses her sisters car or whatever. No reason you can't strike up a conversation. |
OP, with all the things to worry about in the world that ARE my business, my philosophy has become that if I'm not getting paid to worry about it, or it has nothing to do with me (and believe it or not, this really doesn't) then I cannot and will not find the energy to worry about it.
Charter schools have someone who's job it is to worry about residency cheats. Let them worry about it; it's why they get paid the big bucks. You're a mom with a family. I'd think you have more important things to worry about. |
I'm off the philosphy of 'see something - say something,' to the investigators. Maybe it means something; maybe it doesn't. I'm sure the parents of pre-K kids who are legitimately DC students who can't get into charters care. |
OP, there is a process for reporting. Perhaps any of the reasons that always get trotted out and have again in this thread are accurate. I hope you initiate a report to find out.
Once you do, no need to worry about it anymore yourself either. |
Do people think DCUM is the correct authority to report this type of thing to? Why does it come up here so often? Report it, don't report it, whatever, but why does it get so much airplay here? |
Report it.
It's unlikely to be someone who lives in DC and hasn't changed their tags. There is nothing more inconvenient for a DC resident who frequently needs to street park in DC, than having out-of-state tags. People who move here and park on the street overnight will get a couple of "warning" tickets, and eventually big tickets if not towed. There are extremely few exceptions, and it even ends up being a big problem for people staying overnight frequently at the same DC resident's house and street parking. But sure, maybe they have a garage. Report it and follow up. |
And, would you give a stranger all that information. I'd ask them what they want and to leave me alone. In appropriate. |
Which schools started today? |

I have an incoming pk3 at 2R I have md tags as does grandma ... report me and you will be wasting time as other parent lives and owns property in dc ...grandma also owns property in dc and md and a business in dc... so many variables here and the school has all residency documentation they need. Don't take or personal just because our norm differs from yours. BTW as a single mom I'm looking for a place near 2R to rent and we'll let's just say I'm saving fir the 2500 plus a month rent and deposit with no go assistance. |
No gov* assistacne |
Does the child live with grandma or the other parent? If the other parent owns property in DC, I hope he owes you enough child support to live near him and near the school. |
It doesn't matter if anyone owns property in DC. It matters where the kid LIVES. It is a residency requirement.
It is OPs business. Having cheats at her school negatively affects the culture at the school. |
Seriously.. where does the kid live? With you/Grandma in Maryland? or with dad in DC? Sounds like you have sole custody and using your ex-husband's (baby daddy's?) address. It doesn't seem right. |
yup. Agreed. |
