Very few pay tuition. My kids' DC elementary school had a number of students who arrived every day in Maryland cars. When I checked with the school, there were ZERO tuition paying students. There are legitimate cases of one parent living in MD or something, but the sheer volume points to the fact that there is serious and widespread residency scamming goin' on.

Where would you find the data for tuition paying students?

The school and DCPS would know readily.

If folks perceive a widespread out of District student problem at their school, the easiest thing to do is take some photos of the MD cars and drivers, preferably with the kids being dropped off and being picked up. Then make an appointment with the principal. Emphasize that everyone, including the principal you're sure, wants to ensure compliance with the DC residency law and that there are probably deserving DC kids who would love to be at Wonderful Elementary School but couldn't get through the lottery. Then go over the photos. Hopefully the admin can clarify that this one is Joey whose mom lives in MD or that's Janie whose babysitter takes her to school. But there will likely be a few cases where the principal will say "Hmmm, let me look into these ones." It's like other forms of possible criminal activity: If you see something, say something. Bring it to the attention of the authorities and get them to investigate.

Right because there are no privacy laws that prevent a principal from telling you "that's Joey, his parents are divorcing. Dad is staying at his mistress' house in Bethesda and seems to have borrowed her car this morning. That's Daniel, his family is currently homeless and lives in that car. They park a the Walmart in Silver Spring but by law he attends school at the place associated with their last residence", "that's Jasmine, believe it or not that woman is not her mom. Mom's a BigLaw partner and has never been to school, that's the weekday nanny." And finally that's Francesca. The woman dropping her is her aunt, and kinship care provider, nut to Francesca she's mom. She's had Francesca since she was removed from her biomom at 6 months with all 4 limbs broken. She is a ward of the court so even though she lives in Suitland she uses biomom's address for residency"

-- teacher who has had all those situations in her class, and whose own kid was often dropped at school by Grandma who lived a few blocks from our home. We're in ChCh DC, she's in Friendship Heights.

And of course, there's the kid who asks during DC history class "What ward is Landover in?" Or the kid who brings drugs to her DCPS elementary school and then whose parents fight DC court proceedings on the ground that they don't live in DC. Or the single mom who sues her son's DC charter school, not in the District, but in her "home court" of DC. Or the Wilson football players who get kicked off the team when it comes out that they are MD residents. Or the DC police officers who get sued because they don't live in the District but have sent their kids to DCPS for years. The list goes on and on -- and these are only the notorious cases that get reported in the press. Fraud is fraud, and should be exposed and punished.

PP here,

Yes, of course it should, but not by trampling all over people's privacy rights. How hard is it to understand that?

And you believe they share this information with other parents? Is that even legal? I mean privacy issues and all.

Seems like these people got caught, and DC went after them.

Not all the scammers are from PG, but it just seems that way!

But that's only due to your bias.

Different poster here- are you the Pg police? I'm sorry but just geographically it makes sense that most of the scammers will be from PG. You need a rest from this forum. Your name calling is out of control.

A map will help you understand that geographically, DC is surrounded by Arlington, Prince George County, and Montgomery County almost equitably.

Well all the cars I see lined up at Stuart Hobson, Landon Montessori, Burroughs, Ludlow-Taylor, and Perry St Prep are all from Maryland. So while a map is useful, direct evidence seems more important.

Also you have some serious issues. I'm a new poster and the horrible things you write to people make me think you have a serious personality disorder. I'm not white, and am not rich (hence living in a shitty house in Woodridge), and I do see that there is a problem with Maryland cheaters. I've never seen a VA plate once. And none of my neighbors (Also people of color too) agree with me. Not acknowledging that there is a problem is insane.

How do you live in DC and still think that PG is the only county on MD?

Because there's a deficit in her thoughts. She's a one-note Pattie.

The cops' situation was the only one that DC "caught." The others all came to light because of the related incidents, some of them notorious. The point is, if the headline grabbing situations also happened to involve residency fraud that was uncovered as a result, how much fraud is never discovered because the cheaters keep their heads down?

It's probable that there are cheaters who live in various jurisdictions. But given better quality schools and higher income levels in MoCo, the incentives to commit fraud by sneaking into DCPS are not nearly as compelling as in Pee-gee. Pee-gee has the combination of many poor to mediocre schools, somewhat shitty quality public services, spotty before/after care, and a concentration of DC government workers who may have family ties to the District.

It goes beyond a thought deficit. It's a full-blown disorder. We can never know what caused this woman to have a psychotic break and start screaming about pg county over and over again... But we can mock her. Not much else to do. She doesn't respond to logic, her kind of hate speech doesn't inspire pity, and she won't shut up. Ever.

This no one would lie, steal and cheat for regressive quality. The only thing worse than DC is PG and there is your motive
