Couldn’t Dems have done this all nighter like months ago? What the heck has Schumer been doing? Make these MFs work over the weekend. Glad they are getting this done but pissed it’s taken so long. Dems need to find their balls. I know Mitch would have found a way to break the blockage if the tables were turned.

What am I not getting that it’s taken this long?

Why do you always expect the Democrats to waste time and effort saving the Republicans from themselves? It’s not like this is the sole problem the GOP has created for the country. It’s not like the GOP wouldn’t then run to the courts or somehow overturn it if the Democrats found the Moscow Mitch version of themselves. Demand better of the GOP for once.

Calm down. It's not about Dems saving Republicans, it's about us having the staffing needed for our Nat Security. Dems are out there fundraising off LOOK AT TUBBYVILLE. Sorry, Schumer and Durbin could have changed rules to make this go faster. They falsely think you can shame Rs into doing the right thing. I am a solid Democrat but I'm sick of leadership not wielding their power like their lives depend on it.

Do you know how many votes it takes to change Senate rules? They could not get Rs on board.

If you thought it would be so easy to change Senate rules, don't you think they would have changed them?

Maybe. Just maybe the fever is starting to break. The dysfunction of the House, which doesn’t look likely to be resolved anytime soon, may be taking a toll.

The Senate is going to have to manage the upcoming shutdown dance, as well as Johnson’s truculence on security assistance for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan in the coming days.

No. No way in hell is the GOP coming to their senses on this one. What has actually probably happened is chatter about Hamas bringing more terrorism here and that if we were more agile in helping combat it over there it would undercut the threat. The GOP is as effed as ever. There’s just something in it for them.

Oh no not the fight it over there crowd again.

Not really selling Birmingham

Tommy Tuberville is a traitor. That old man has an issue with the military. Alabama is very clear where there’re at. To hell with that state

He is a Christian, a strong Christian man who defends the unborn, and you traffic in innuendo and slander.

He lies about his family’s military history.
His non-profit has done nothing more than buy the director a truck.
His selfishness nearly killed a general.
He’s damaging national security because he doesn’t understand the constitution,
He voted against expanding healthcare for veterans exposed to burn pits.
His hold on these nominations is separating families and causes financial hardship for them.

Such a fine “Christian” SMH

He understands perfectly what he is doing as well as the material impacts his actions are having on the US military.

He is part of the Christo-fascist alliance with Russia.

All roads lead to Russia.

True. Shelby spent the 4th of July in Russia a few years ago and I’m sure he told coach what the orders were.

No and he lies about his family’s service. He claimed something like his grandfather was a commander of some kind but there’s no record of that.

You have two soldiers, both have volunteered to defend our country. One has been ordered to serve in New York while the other has been ordered to serve in Texas. Why would you treat them differently regarding their reproductive rights?

+1

If I were in the military I would be offended that I am trusted to give my life for this country, trusted with weapons and information to defend this country, yet some yahoo thinks I can’t be trusted to make the best healthcare decision for myself or my partner? These are adults, they don’t need paternalistic asshats scaffolding their behavior. Not to mention that he’s irrevocably delaying and hindering the careers of service members who have nothing to do with the policy. Typical white male privilege tantrum.

A tuber is a root vegetable. Root vegetables are not known for their intelligence. A ville is a place. Tuberville is the place of the root vegetables. To be a Tubeville is to hail from a place where people with all the intelligence of a root vegetable have been inbreeding for generations. A tuber finds itself in Congress and acts with all the intelligence of a tuber. What's the big shocker here?

+1 “Tuberville says his father lied about his birthday to enlist at age 16 and then went on to become a tank commander who earned five Bronze Stars, landed at Normandy Beach on D-Day, and drove a tank through Paris when U.S. forces freed the city from Nazi control. While there is no question that Tuberville’s father served in WWII, it is unlikely—and in some cases impossible—that he achieved everything else Tuberville brags about.

Charles Tuberville was born on July 16, 1925. His draft registration card shows he submitted it on July 16, 1943—his eighteenth birthday. His tombstone lists his highest rank as technician fifth grade (TEC 5). This rank indicates technical skills, not combat leadership. He reportedly was only a corporal, not a sergeant (the minimum rank to be a tank commander). While it is possible he could have filled in for a tank commander, it is unlikely that he was regularly in that position.

Charles Tuberville also did not earn five Bronze Stars. No after-action reports mention that he earned the award given for “heroic or meritorious achievement or service” in combat, nor is it mentioned on his tombstone or in his widow’s obituary. A photo of him shows that he earned five Bronze Service Stars, which show that a soldier was physically present during a particular military campaign.

It is also impossible for Charles Tuberville to have driven a tank through Paris on the day it was liberated. After-action reports for his tank battalion show they were about 90 miles away from the city at the time.”
