This is still going on and Tubberville is still objecting. Explain to me like I am 5 HOW one person can hold up appointments. Can't the Senate just change the rules? Is this a "norm" thing? It's so strange seeing Republicans trying to get their colleague to stop his shenanigans.

Earnst and Sullivan will run through all 300 names and make Tuberville object to each one of them. Thereafter, the Senate can do a roll call vote for each appointee. It will take a long time, but when you consider Tuberville is a traitor, then it all makes sense.

Couldn’t Dems have done this all nighter like months ago? What the heck has Schumer been doing? Make these MFs work over the weekend. Glad they are getting this done but pissed it’s taken so long. Dems need to find their balls. I know Mitch would have found a way to break the blockage if the tables were turned.

What am I not getting that it’s taken this long?

I think it took Tuberville’s Republican colleagues this long to get fed up with him assuring that all the promotions would get the votes.

The Republicans are leading this. Better to let them eat their own.

Well you see the constitution requires 60% majority to anything in the senate and each senator is allow to veto anything with a constitutional inscribed filibuster.

Republicans growing a spine against the un-American traitors in their midst. Never thought I'd see that.

Republicans need to wake up and recognize that wrong is wrong and trying to ignore that (like trying to ignore the Santos problem, or trying to ignore the Tuberville problem) - or worse yet, doubling down in the hopes that everyone else will shut up and forget about it - IS NOT GOING TO WORK.

Stop blaming Dems. This has always been a Republican problem.

Maybe. Just maybe the fever is starting to break. The dysfunction of the House, which doesn’t look likely to be resolved anytime soon, may be taking a toll.

The Senate is going to have to manage the upcoming shutdown dance, as well as Johnson’s truculence on security assistance for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan in the coming days.

J. F. C.

Why do you always expect the Democrats to waste time and effort saving the Republicans from themselves? It’s not like this is the sole problem the GOP has created for the country. It’s not like the GOP wouldn’t then run to the courts or somehow overturn it if the Democrats found the Moscow Mitch version of themselves. Demand better of the GOP for once.

No. No way in hell is the GOP coming to their senses on this one. What has actually probably happened is chatter about Hamas bringing more terrorism here and that if we were more agile in helping combat it over there it would undercut the threat. The GOP is as effed as ever. There’s just something in it for them.
