Wait, why would we relocate Ellington? It’s a gorgeous school. It just needs to serve its students well. |
Who is going through the hassle to commute their kids from PG County all the way to Wilson HS? There is no way that this is happening. Just bonkers and absolutely not happening. Any quality sports recruits from PG County will have better opportunities at area private schools than coming to Wilson. What sense does that make? |
Talk to the Wilson students. They know the kids who live in Maryland but keep in on the down low. |
It’s in the wing place. Northwest DC needs a second high school, and Western used to be it. Because DC treats Ellington fir some reason like a sacred cow, they’re trying to shoehorn in high school into a small site that used to be private school for little kids. Ellington draws from around DC, overwhelmingly from east of the Park, but it’s not even remotely close to Metro. |
We had a horse. It was a good horse. But it has bolted. |
Lol, are you are the same crazy that posts on every listserver about this? We were talking about this person with our neighbors and we all decided to vote for whoever this person hated the most. So we all became duncan voters, since why not? |
Retail politics at its finest. |
Ah yes. Kids secretly living in PG County “on the down low” as opposed to all of the other problems and issues that kids face today. Thanks for the laugh. |
Sounds like you’re the one who is out of touch my friend. |
Have you tried walking a few blocks to Wisconsin or Connecticut? There already are tons of stores nearby. |
It’s crazy how lazy this person is that they seem incapable of walking 2 blocks. It’s also clear that they don’t live nearby or else they would understand the public health nuisance issue first hand. There is already a massive rat problem and attracting more rats closer to people homes just so one person doesn’t have to walk 2 blocks is bonkers. Also, DC is “over stored”. If your desired goal is to keep the Wisconsin corridor vibrant, adding retail on 34th would be anathema. |
Over-stored? DC has noticeably fewer retail establishments than any other city I've lived in. There are a few tightly defined strips that have retail, and that's it. I assume it's a legacy of the plan for the city/zoning. |
It's amazing how un-worldly the NIMBY types are. Some of them seem like they've never left their own block. |
| I bet I’ve traveled a lot more than you, my unwashed friend. There are plenty of stores in DC; it’s just that there will be fewer and fewer as long as people can run in and out with armfuls of good unimpeded. |
Honestly ignorant. Go read the trade news, like Washington Business Journal. |
