You are correct in that there is a war here amongst a few parents who enjoy spreading misinformation to elevate their clubs and diminish others. Spirit, BRYC, and McLean are notable targets for abuse. These posters often post incorrect information that is later proven false, and their aim to to try to steer people like you. My advice is to speak with he club TDs directly to assess the programs and voice any concerns. The rumors you read here are in the complete garbage category in almost all cases, based on past history, especially where the top targets are concerned. |
Lets take a look at BRYC's 03 ECNL schedule for example: From Sept 1st to December 16th they played in a total of 21 games in four months. They then played 3 games in January and 4 in March for a total of 28 games in 7 months. Now, if your kid is going to play HS Soccer you can tack on another 20 games from early March to mid May. If your team is good there is potential for a max of 9 more games in the playoffs to be a State Champ by the end of June. Sprinkled in all of that are two National ECNL events in April (Phoenix) and May (New Jersey) for a total of 6 more games. So two major showcase events are right in the thick of the HS Soccer season. So you can choose to stay and train with your ECNL team, 1/3 of which isn't there at practices most of the time because of HS Soccer practice and games or you play HS Soccer and make a 1/3 of your club practices. All of this while still hoping to play well as a team at two separate showcases with the legs of a kid who has been on a soccer field for 6 days a week possibly have played in 20 games since January alone by that point. https://youthsoccerrankings.us/team.html?teamId=1919620 |

^^^US Soccer is proud of you.
Solar rumored to announce DA defection for all in ECNL after showcase. |
|
"If the rumors coming out of Florida are true, then they are dropping 3 Florida clubs because Tophat threatened to go all in ECNL if they didn’t do something about the travel"
NY thread |

Since all of the top clubs in the US are moving to ECNL, the DA parents have try something.
New tactic - Push too many games as the ECNL issue. Too much soccer! No wait, since their kids can't get enough and want 11 months of soccer it's not too much soccer. But games are bad. Training is good but games are bad. |
Ok, Captain ECNL, now tell me, regardless of league how the presented and accurate schedule is actually good for a HS age player. |
| Is it possible for DA and ECNL to merge? Would be nice to see NWSL teams get good recognition |
Start your own thread broski. This one is titled, "More DA defections to ECNL." |
What is the value of two ECNL spring showcases when your primary training environment is a HS team and not the actual ECNL team playing in the showcase? And what is the value of the ECNL training environment during the spring when over a 1/3 of the players are never at practice because they are at High School? Just tell me the upside? Please it has to be more than a concession stand with popcorn and pregame music. |
If you want DA players to also defect then sell me why I' should pay the value of 10 months of training to get 6 months of training. |
| Do ECNL teams ever do overseas games? Or DA at that? Do European scouters look at these 2 leagues? |
You are really asking why some teenagers see upside in playing for their HS? Wow |
The boys DA plays international tourneys. I don't think the girls side is there yet. ECNL, there are some US Tourneys that are international as well, but in general girls soccer is not the same in Europe as it is here. This is not the fault of either league just that there are simply not as many girls tourneys or even girls brackets in Europe as there are here. Individual clubs will do international trips but that is club dependent and has nothing to do with the particular league. |
DA players to defect? Nobody is trying to get you or anyone else to defect. Kids who want to play HS defect on their own. The good kids are getting recruited regardless of league. College is the end game. Period. You really are a parent of a young player. |
Ok, so I'll also ask my teen what the upside of driving a car full of loaded kids is? Or whats the upside of going out till 1am on a school night. Certainly asking the HS kid if they understand the upside of 30 games in 3 months with one day a week off during that time frame is the right course of action. In general it is pretty solid advice to just let teenagers make all of their decisions without guidance. |
