Being [insert political issue here]
Being a mom |
I was just telling my dad the same thing last night. My sister is one of the most toxic people I know, with very little self-awareness. She's been in therapy her entire adult life (47), and it appears to have made her worse. I told my dad in defense of the therapist that they can only guide my sister based on the skewed info she provides of reality. Therapists should require external perspectives so they can have half a chance of actually helping the person. |
Yes, really. And I have family from NYC. They are always looking at the country, damnit the world, through this NYC lens. Also, why did you attack me and say I should explore more places? I went to law school in NYC and practiced there for almost 10 years because part of my family is there. I've explored plenty of places and this has nothing to do with DC. Just like ADHD focused people have nothing to do with DC, or therapy people, dog people, vegans, every damn thing listed on this thread. You should think before you write. |

Solidcore people.
Dewey beach people. |
A lot of New Yorkers barely leave the city. Especially if they are from there and their family is there. The New Yorkers who travel a lot are either (1) suuuuuuper rich, so they can afford both COL in NYC and to travel extensively, and (2) are from somewhere else, necessitating at least some travel to see family. Born and bred New Yorkers can be very insular. They can have other good qualities, but IME do not tend to be very worldly. Sure, they will tell you about how great Zabars is but have very little interest in anything that is not NY-centric. |
| Their kids and the schools their kids attend. |
Which is funny, because NYC is miles behind the rest of the in terms of cleanliness, homelessness, migrant crisis… etc etc. Its every entry point (Bronx/Queens/Hudson County by train, LGA/JFK/EWR by air) features decaying slums and third-world infrastructure. Undoubtedly one of the worst major cities in America |

- Foreign policy or think-tank people who almost all fall into one of the earlier mentioned categories (“travel” people, “alumni obsessed people”, “the District people”
-Strivers who make being rich their entire identity - Eco-moms who get upset at disposable stuff -Disney adults - Parents who make bragging about kids success of money their identity -“I’m a New Yorker” people -Bro’s who think that they are superior based on their high school -Political name droppers - Inappropriate bikini Mom at boring DC swim club -Vacation House person |

“Law mom”
“Doctor mom” Peloton cultists (I have one and use it daily but don’t talk about it). Adults with public social media profiles constantly having over the top theme parties and acting like they are still in college |
Guess what- I am a stay at home mom with no help and I am busier than my friends who work full time. They get a break from their kids and houses. I’m expected to do it all even with little ones hanging onto me constantly. |
You do realize that autism truly affects every aspect of your life. If you don’t, consider yourself lucky. |
