You are clearly not happy, and that is fine. That is exactly why other clubs exist. Go try one.

What I do not get is why you stay just to complain, and even better why you come back to complain after you have already left.

Move on. Touch grass. Find a hobby.

Why does it bother you so much? Does it make you question your decision to keep your kid(s) at Valor? I personally appreciate hearing people’s experiences at clubs whether they’re still there or not. There so much you will never find out just by going to a practice or tryout.

I have actually been really happy with the coaches we have had over the last few years (And yes, I know a lot of others have had their own positive and negative experiences) and that is honestly the reason we have stayed. What I have a problem with is how the organization actually makes decisions which then can have a negative affect on keeping said coaches and players.

To me its about ensuring that Valor at least tries to stay competitive and have a good overall reputation as a destination for players to actually want to come to.

Why does an honest discussion of your club's pros and cons bother you so much, Paul?

My DC’s experience at Valor has been good. Good coach for the past two seasons. Great group of teammates and parents. A little expensive but competitively priced.

That being said, we don’t know who the coach will be next season because current coach takes on younger group next season. So while I am one of the satisfied parents, it would be nice to know who the coaches are next season.

What decisions are you referring to?

Prob many decisions...$hithow comes to mind- not the PP but having kids in Valor since it started, things appear to have really gone downhill recently. Management appears to care about $ more than anything else, and while we all understand pay to play- the continuous movement of players up to top teams to only fill spots rather than recruiting talet, is not a good strategy to keep good players from getting better or staying...oh and also having tryouts AFTER every single other club in NOVA shows parents and players how much Valor really doesnt care about talent. While many people will argue- development matters more- I see you BUT once you are in the older groups you start to see the stark difference in ability TO develop over talent...its just a money grab and really kills the talented players spirit. And I know grass isnt greener...but sometimes different grass shows you where your kid really stands.

Honestly, watching this thread hit 300+ pages is a masterclass in committed insanity. You people keep recycling the same tired rants every two weeks like you’re actually expecting a different result this time. It is genuinely impressive how much energy you spend being miserable.

Let’s do a quick reality check for the folks in the back. Valor is a mid tier community club. That is it. If you are still hanging around here after U15 and expecting some big time recruitment miracle, you didn't just miss the boat, you are standing at the wrong harbor.

It is honestly nauseating to watch grown adults stay in a situation they hate just so they can come here and cry about it over and over. You do realize you have the right to leave, right? No one is holding you hostage. Every club has its own set of pros and cons. If this one doesn't work for you, go find one that does and let the kids actually enjoy playing for once.

The exit is right there. Use it!

Yet here you are, reading along on page 346, desperately trying to dissuade people from posting. Why?

Its incredibly useful for consumer to have all this information on clubs especially during tryout season.

Valor has disabled its google reviews, so there is really no other unbiased way to find out information on the club. (Why disable reviews if you aren't afraid of what people will say??)

Agreed- however the club has changed since the first post a couple years ago and as someone who has been there with multiples kid for multiple years I have opinions based on experience...and once we leave the club I will no longer care what they do, as my $ is going somewhere else. But it is fair to have open discussions on here so that current and future parents know that although things may change in the future...these are some of the things going on in the club currently. And as PP said- it is a mid-tier community club BUT still cost $3K+ so they "appear" to be elite...as a parent I would like to know first hand what parents and children are experiencing here and at any other club we are paying for to make the best deicison for our family. Staying or leaving Valor (or any other club) isnt the coversation- we all know we can leave.

It is interesting that Valor gets discussed so much here when there are other clubs that are larger and presumably have a mix of happy and unhappy customers. I think a lot of people just want Valor to be more or better than what it is because it has so many things going for it like a convenient location, lots of field space, the Fieldhouse for winter, and a lot of families that know each other from the surrounding community. If they could just figure out a way to have a more consistent training and coaching philosophy and attract more quality coaches (and frankly people), I think a lot of people would be really happy. But instead, you have some that are frustrated that they feel like they have to give up a convenient location, which is not a small thing around here, in order to feel like they are getting their money’s worth. I think VSA is a club that Valor should look to as an example of a community club that also has a strong reputation for development. I know a lot of people have left or looking to leave Valor for VSA.

The issue is with the location, money and facilities valor has access to they should be a much better club. Also at this point should have access to ECNL or MLSnext HG. It would be the only way to attract and keep talent.

Folks have to realize VSA and Loudoun are not much better, but they are able to pull in talent because of VDA and NVA. The partnership with FVU is a farce.

Don't think this is true. Its still run by the same people overpaying themselves and underpaying the coaches, poor training, hiring complete newbies and parents to coach, and creating as many revenue teams as they can. Their older teams have been terrible for years because anyone who knows about soccer bails their kid out after a year or so. Look at how few teams even went to the Jeff Cup weekends, which is not even that prestigious any more (but still rejects almost all the Valor teams).

From where it started in 2021 to today, there has been some improvement with the Winter component. Everything else is pretty much the same. The club has a lot of potential for a variety of reasons but until someone with a desire to make it a top tier platform takes over, it will continue to bleed talent and stay middle of the road. Not a horrible thing if the price matched.

After spending our first and last year here at Valor, I’m thinking if the club charged less, more in line with other non ECNL/mls clubs in the below $3000, there would be fewer complaints. It is what it is. The problem is pretending that it’s better than what it is. For kids that want to play semi-competitively but not crazy intensive, with neighborhood friends, it’s a great place. It just charges way too much for what it is.
