Valor

My uninformed guess is that they know how will be coaching the teams that have had tryouts, but for some reason don’t want to list just those coaches maybe they want to list all of them at the same time on the website. And if they haven’t scheduled tryouts for a team yet it’s because they don’t yet know who the coach will be.

I don’t know why they don’t just do what some other clubs do, where they slowly announce coaches via IG. That allows them to trickle out info without drawing attention to the fact that not all coaches have been hired.

IIRC, last year they announced the first team coaches for each age group, and pretended like that was the same thing as posting a full coaching slate. then they held tryouts for all their low level teams and no one knew who was coaching them.

That is exactly what happened. Some age groups, they told families at the tryout field who the coaches would be. Some, they didn't, because they hadn't hired people yet.

I would never accept an offer from Valor (or anywhere) without knowing the coach. But especially Valor because they have some bad people as coaches. Like people I wouldn’t want my kid around, not just lack of soccer coaching skill. One of them is a known problem across the CYA sports ecosystem and no one does anything about it.

Can anyone at Valor answer for me why their tryout dates for the non-high school age groups are a solid month after every other local club?

They are every year. This is the valor way. Kids not picked up need somewhere to go.

Their business model is to vacuum up the kids who couldn't make any other team, then they make a bunch of low level teams, overcharge, find a parent coach or someone who has never coached before, and the parents are thrilled Larlo made a travel soccer team.

It's just crazy to me that they think their good players will sit on timed offers from other teams that have tryouts starting in March and April to wait until May when Valor has theirs. Especially this year with the age group change. I guess they will just fill all their spots with rec kids and third teamers who didn't get offers from anywhere else.

I think Valor is going to be surprised with how many players who don't come back next year. It would be better business to keep top team players and build out lower level teams at the same time, versus watching all of your talent leave after early tryouts and trying to backfill everyone with the leftovers. I personally know many Valor kids who have already taken offers with other clubs and its not even April.

Definitely did not understand this when my kid tried out for Valor coming out of one of the rec programs. It didn’t occur to us to look at other travel clubs and check their tryout schedules. The difference between the top and bottom team in the age group was huge. The kids on the bottom team really should not have been there and it was really unfortunate when they would combine all of the teams in the age group for academy style training and winter futsal. And the parents on the bottom team were unhappy because they didn’t realize that their kid would not have made a travel team elsewhere and that the club did not care whether or not they had a quality coach.

Before we left a few years ago, they sent out first team offers weeks before tryouts to the first team kids

I am wondering if they will do or have already done this again because it makes no sense to hold tryouts so far after everyone else. Kids who are looking around are going to get an offer and have to decide on it before valor has even started their tryouts. I wonder if anyone on a top team already has their offer?

I believe they had some older boys RL team tryouts already so certainly they would have sent out those offers.

I would be really surprised if any of the U15 and down age groups have gotten any official written offers yet. I certainly haven't heard of any.

If you are on here complaining about a club you are still at, do everyone a favor and just leave.

You are clearly not happy, and that is fine. That is exactly why other clubs exist. Go try one.

What I do not get is why you stay just to complain, and even better why you come back to complain after you have already left.

Move on. Touch grass. Find a hobby.

I could see waiting to do U9-U12, but I don’t understand why they are doing U13-15 so much later than the other RL teams.
