They could have been smart and just had a weekly crime thread pinned to the top of the sub so that residents could still have their space to discuss crime happening in the city. Are you so low information you’re unaware of the test scores post two years of closings? That many kids were severely damaged is basically a truism at this point and has nothing to do with whatever talking points you’re mad about.

Shutting down discussion of crime is totally inappropriate. If the mods think posters are being racist, they should report them and have those specific posters removed. But from what I've seen, a majority of comments about crime on r/washdc are not about race.

And frankly most blacks in DC are indeed very concerned about crime, and the black community has been the hardest hit and most heavily victimized by the rise in crime. The r/washingtondc mods are not handling it well at all.
