They entered the bar together and left together 15 minutes later. I don't know if it's been established that he bought her an alcoholic beverage or not. I'm sure that the police have those details though.

They've just executed another search warrant for JM's apt. Police have re-entered. Landlord says he hasn't spoken to JM and the two roommates have moved out.

My understanding is that JM is now on the run and the police have lost him. I don't know, this police force seems incompetent.

Anonymous wrote:My gut (which I know is anecdotal and doesn't mean anything) is that JM isn't responsible for Hannah's disappearance. I think the police are under public pressure to have to have some direction, particularly given the history of missing girls in the area. JM was no gentleman for buying a drunk girl drinks, but I think people may be getting tunnel vision focusing on this guy, and miss other clues.

JM was apparently a volunteer coach at a private school. It worries me that a 32 yr old kids' coach would take an 18 yr old girl to a bar and (possibly?) buy her drinks. I'm wondering if she went with him because he approached her like a concerned coach offering assistance to a scared, lost kid....Maybe she was in a panic because she was lost, knew her cell phone was getting ready to die. I can see someone who works with kids approaching Hannah and offering his help. But taking her to a bar? Why would he do that? And his high speed driving away from police is worrisome, too. Everything I read about this case makes me more worried for Hannah. I hope they find her and she comes home soon.

... because he is a predator.

Well thats a bad sign. Also if he is ever tried for this offense, the jury can be told that he ran and they can consider this as evidence.

Asking for a lawyer was a smart move and didn't indicate guilt or innocence. Running away is something else entirely.

My question exactly. Why would he buy an already drunk girl more drinks, if he wasn't expecting to take advantage, of her?
\

This is dumb. If she asked for a drink, he probably got her a drink. That's not his call.

they've issued a warrant for him now, he is in his sister's car. there's a poster out. if someone tells me how to upload a pic i can put it up here.

It's all over the news. There is a warrant out for his arrest for reckless driving. The police did not continue to tail him because they were worried about public safety. His whereabouts at this point are unknown.

From the goodness of his heart right? Out of the blue..strange girl stumbling along, he follows her and decides to buy her a drink, just like that.

Gosh I hate to say this but it seems like the police down there are really botching this investigation. This is only based on the info they are giving us. If they were so sure this was the guy how did they lose track of him? If I lived in C ville I would be mad and scared that the primary suspect is on the loose. Why did they release such detailed info about him so that the media could id him when they did not have enough to arrest him? This obviously spooked him, guilty or innocent, and made him run. I saw a report over the weekend that people were moving boxes out of he apartment. I mean wtf is going on? Is it that hard to keep track of the primary suspect in a case like this, especially since the FBI is supposedly involved?

Public safety?? What about the public safety issue of their primary person of interest being on the loose?

I don't get this either. They've known he was involved for 3-4 days and he just skipped town and they lost him? That's absurd.
Anonymous
Maybe they lost him when he sped away from the police station. The chief said that the state and fed officers stopped chasing him because he was driving fast and recklessly so they didn't want to endanger the public.
Anonymous
Could have the police have let him go in the car 'for their safety,' with the underlying intention of having an excuse to bring him in? (Does my question make sense?)
