Not necessarily. It says they WILL be reevaluating by early morning and if necessary will announce a closure by 5 am

They often say something similar. Nothing in the weather tonight will make the conditions worse. If they thought they were ready tonight, they're going to be ready tomorrow.

I don’t think they’re ready at the moment. I think they HOPE to be ready by 5 a.m.

Then show a picture of just one school from tonight that shows it isn't ready.

Roads, sidewalks, and parking lots are clear. They're ready.

What is this desperate weirdo obsession with people sending pics? They may well decide to lose in the morning, whether you like it or not, whether you approve or not, and whether anyone sends you any pictures or not. Cope.

Lots of pictures on social media

No. You vastly overestimate your own importance. And if you respond (incorrectly) with any variation of “so you don’t have any then,” it will further cement that you aren’t an adult, but a spoiled, foot stomping 12-year-old in an adult’s body.

Where are the pictures? The comments in posts from today don't have any of schools. At least, I don't see any. What post are you looking under there?

Right! Because the pictures aren’t there it just mean all schools are plowed

Did you see the post I was replying to? They said there was pictures of schools and bus loops.

I found one report (no photo), by the way, that was a blatant lie. I know because I live in the same neighborhood and saw the school myself.

You’re like a weird, obsessive dog with a bone. Go enjoy your kids.

Yep. They prob wanted to call closed already but knew parents' reactions. They may be waiting until morning to decide whether to call Code Red or Code Orange latter being childcare in school buildings may be open.

If schools aren't open for child care providers, I'm bringing my kids to Carver. Or Taylor's house.

Sure you are, you Big Internet Tough Gal you.

And then what? You can’t go inside. Even if you got in, you can’t leave them there and go to work. You’d just be inconveniencing yourself and subjecting your kids to the cold.

They yell/cry pretty loud. Someone will let them in if admin offices are open.

No. No, they won’t. Your kids, your problem.

What do you think?

Until midday, I was hopeful we would open, but now I think the delay will turn into a closure. I teach in the DCC. My school has a lot of walkers who would need to contend with both uncleared sidewalks and sub freezing temps. We also have a high percentage of low income kids and many of them don’t attend school when it rains because they don’t have the right attire.

Ok so those kids aren’t coming but other kids can still get an education. This is ridiculous

You won’t get further than the front lobby without an appointment. I work for MCPS and I can’t even use my ID to stroll into Carver to use the bathroom.

Once you’re in the lobby, what is your plan? Hopefully your kids are too young to be embarrassed when you are escorted out.

It’s public property. If admin offices are open, she can remain in the lobby all day really.

She can stay with her kids in the lobby instead of at home. Pretty stupid, but then, she doesn’t sound too bright.

All the people who want schools to be closed tomorrow…where does it stop? Do we wait until sometime later next week when it warms up enough that all the snow melts? There will be some amount of snow and ice at least through the weekend. At some point, kids need to go back to school and conditions are ok enough to do that.

Yawn.

I'll come back for them after my doctor's appointment is over. Maybe. The'll have fun running around for a few hours.

That’s child abandonment, and a crime.

Your tough talk is asinine. Deal with your own kids.

At least it’s clear now that you’re just trolling.

We'll see. If schools don't open I don't currently have an other option. It isn't to line up child care for kids with special needs.

Things in life don’t have to be easy. Better get planning now! And no, not plans like your previous one, which will get you arrested. Shrug.

I don’t want school to be closed tomorrow but I also realize it is a tough decision and we don’t know the big picture and all the factors they need to consider. If they change the status to closed tomorrow I imagine they have good reason to make that call.

If they close again tomorrow, they should have to provide proof. List the schools that aren't ready, say what isn't ready, and provide photos. Whether the mistakes were with district crews, the contractors, or the building staff, they won't happen again after being publicly shamed.

LOL. Thanks for the laugh.

I call troll, but if not good luck with CPS after you pull this stupid stunt.

CPS won't take kids with special needs.

So you want your kids to stay home all winter?

Are you always this absurdly melodramatic, or only on DCUM?

Anonymous wrote:Praying for a snow day- we don't get much snow, and my kids want to sled

Didn’t they just have 3 days to sled? Also the sledding hill near me is getting real patchy and muddy, there’s not much good sledding snow left.

Further we don’t make education decisions based on a kid wanting to sled.

We also don’t make education decisions based on “my kid is bored,” “I’m sick of my kid after the break” or “my kid misses his friends,” but since Monday, there have been hundreds of comments on multiple snow threats whining exactly that.
