They don’t necessarily get punished under UCMJ, but they do get sidelined. And the stigma that comes with making bad decisions follows them professionally. It’s going to require some serious acting skills for the JCS to pretend to respect this guy. |
Oh, please. Absolutely no doubt plenty of these people have their own skeletons. ![]() DP |
Well, Vance thinks hillbillies are lazy, so logic assumes that the prevailing attitude of the Trumpster elites is very closely aligned with those of the Hollywood elites. Elites are elites, period. Pawns are pawn, period. Only in Trumplandia is the sky pink and the trees purple, by design of...the Trumpster elites. |
Yeah, there are likely more affair partners of senate members than there are of members themselves, if you totaled them up. |
According to many DCUM posters, affairs and babies born to single mothers are no big deal. |
For the millionth time, there are actually rules about this in the military. And consequences. I get that only 1% serve, but the fact that the military has different rules than the rest of the population is pretty elementary. |
Spare me. Plenty of higher up military officers engage in affairs. |
Like Gen. Petraeus getting an Army Distinguished Service Medal when he retired with a yearly pension of over $200,000? |
That WAS a scandal. And it shouldn’t shock you that people at that level get away with more than a Major or Lt Col. It’s not right, but it true. Flynn was a traitor and shouldn’t have his rank or retirement either. He should be in Leavenworth. |
Yes, that POS got away with it. The officer he had the affair with got kicked out of the military with no retirement. I wonder why the different treatment....hmmm....let me think.... |
Didn’t Petraeus resign? |
Like I said, it’s not right but this has been true since forever. You’re conflating issues. |
A woman made a sexual assault allegation against Pete in Monterey CA in 2017.
https://www.vanityfair.com/news/story/pete-hegseth-misconduct-allegation-meeting There will be other allegations, just wait. |
And he was widely respected as an extreme professional until the affair- he had a huge fall from grace then. |
Bickering aside, it's objectively true that if you compare the credentials of Trump's current nominee for Sec of Defense with those of the two that served in his first term (he had three but the third one was an acting Sec of Def), the ones from his first term (Mattis, Esper) have superior credentials. You can read about them in the link below.
The difference this time around--and what concerns people in the military establishment and others--is that Hedgseth is not only much less qualified (lack of commanding experience aside, he doesn't have much managerial experience) but seems to have been chosen primarily because he will do whatever Trump tells him and he does a good job on TV. This time around, Trump has been very deliberate about choosing "yes men" (and women) who are loyal to him rather than to the country. The first time around he selected more conventional appointees that were recommended to him by the GOP establishment. https://history.defense.gov/DOD-History/Secretaries-of-Defense/ |
