That’s 100% irrelevant to the job of managing the largest bureaucracy in the world. He’s wasting all his time and money posing for TV every day instead of doing the SECDEF’s actual job.

+1 He should be meeting with defense ministers at the Munich Security Conference but that wouldn’t get the rubes hard.

Also Esper regularly trained alongside troops.

Not totally irrelevant at all. He is bonding with the troops and staying in shape. More than I can say for the previous person in this role. And there is plenty of time for meetings since this took place before dawn.

What do the troops think about the $50,000 emergency paint job and another $87,000 for emergency home repairs he requested? Is he getting his kitchen re-done?

While they live in mold infested homes to boot. "Bonding with the troops" You people drink this stuff up like a lapdog.

I am reminded of those old commercials..."I'm not a doctor, but I play on on TV..."

This guy really is nothing more than a TV personality and so he knows nothing other than this BS. What a joke.

You mean the funding that was requested by the DoD before Hegseth took office?

Rumsfeld was an exercise fanatic. And a much better SecDef than the drunk.

And I'm pretty sure Rumsfeld didn't have aides videotaping his workouts and uploading them to social media. Hegseth is a vain narcissist, just like his commander in chief. That's a huge weakness that can be exploited by others.

Do some research.

After graduating from Princeton University, Hegseth began his career working as an analyst for Bear Stearns. From 2003 to 2014 and again from 2019 to 2021, he served as an infantry officer in the Army National Guard, attaining the rank of Major. He received the Bronze Star while on a combat deployment to Iraq in 2005.[3] In 2014, he voluntarily deployed to Afghanistan to train the Afghan security forces.

DP. His service is commendable but in and of itself does not make him qualified for the job. Other DefSecs did not have military backgrounds. And you conveniently forgot the stuff in between where he ran several organization into the ground financially. Not to mention his huge, documented character flaws, alcoholism, and sexual abuse allegations.

You think that soldier's quarters are not painted? That they are painted for free? Sure, there are problems, but most of them are fine. Have you ever been in military quarters?

More tough guy posturing.

I would much rather have Pete Buttigieg, whose biggest muscle is his brain.

This is seen as a flex in MAGA land. MAGA loves them some gym bro and military bro porn.

Exactly. Really manly man stuff. It's so exasperating.

Remember in his nomination hearing, when one of the authentic R sycophants used part of his limited questioning time to ask his many pushups he could do???
