Kind of hard for the Miranda camp to say he's not a serious candidate when the TEACHERS endorse him over her.

This is a big deal.

Are they really surveying teachers to decide who to endorse? This is the same AEA whose president embezzled a ton of money, right?

Oh sure attack the teachers. That's a good look for the Miranda camp.

Bottom line, the teachers have spoken and it sure is embarrassing to Miranda.

It’s not an attack on the teachers, I’m saying the organization has not been well run in the very recent past. That’s a fact. The organization is not the same thing as the teachers.

From the AEA website:

"The AEA is an organization of Arlington Public Schools (APS) employees who support our union through member dues, and who advocate for employee rights, fair treatment under APS policies and procedures, and a competitive employee compensation package, including salaries commensurate with the cost of living in Arlington."

They did not choose Miranda and I'm listening.

Because you listen to what you want to hear. Are you listening with equal vigor to the endorsement by a current teacher who is also former chair of ACDC?

AEA's endorsement process does not include a vote by its teacher members. It is determined by a committee that interviews each candidate.
It is not a sign that "teachers have spoken."

Keep trying to minimize the voices of the teachers. It's not a good look for you. They can speak for themselves AND THEY DID.

One person vs the entire teachers union of Arlington? Listen to yourself, that is just funny!

I have looked over the list of Miranda's endorsements. I know one of them and their views quite well. They have ugly anti-progressive, anti-equity views that I do not agree with. So their endorsement of Miranda tells me that Miranda is not my candidate.

This is from less than 5 months ago. You’re telling me the whole organization has turned around in that time? I saw some comments a week or two ago when they won collective bargaining that the teachers weren’t informed about the outcome.

https://www.arlnow.com/2023/01/24/breaking-former-arlington-teachers-union-president-arrested-in-fairfax-county/

“ At the time, sources said they were frustrated that the organization had effectively stopped operating, just as the collective bargaining process was starting to ramp up. No one would answer the phone, the website was down for two months and the meeting when members were supposed to launch their executive board campaigns was canceled, raising doubts among members about the fairness of the election.
Meanwhile, a lawyer for the Virginia Education Association said in a memo that the union’s finances were in disarray and not communicated to members. Local leaders admitted the disorganization in a memo to members, saying AEA began the 2021-22 fiscal year without a budget and owed $732,000 in dues to the state and national unions.”

NP and an AEA member but not on The PAC that votes to endorse. This is embarrassing and making me question if AEA is really prepared to lead us. And we need strong leadership for collective bargaining. If nothing else, we should have stayed out of it rather than endorsing a 22 yo with no connection to Arlington. Will he even serve out his term? SMDH.

Fortunately for Arlington there aren’t any Republicans running in this school
Board race.

I've been going back and forth on whether to join AEA and I definitely will not now.

Couldn’t tell you. Looks like a lot of ACDC and Dems are voting for Miranda.

Yep a committee of TEACHERS that INTERVIEWED each candidate and like what they heard from Angelo and not Miranda.

One of them. Do you know the views of the others? I know several of the people on her list of supporters and they are anything but "anti-progressive, anti-equity." The fact that people with such different viewpoints are willing to support the same person tells me that there is important common ground different people find in this candidate. That tells me Miranda is the one to vote for.
