I liked that part too, and it really solidifies the “community” aspect. They arent disappearing into the night, they are discussing as a whole community. Another difference is that Dina is supposed to be Jewish, the descendent of holocaust survivors. Show Dina is Latina I think, so not sure if they’ll bring that up. It was easy enough to skip, but in the game they find a synagogue and discuss it. We’re kind of playing along as the show goes, but the game does alot of back and forth flashbacks whereas the show seems more linear. I’m interested to see the rest of the season! |
| The budding romance with Ellie and Dina is really forced on the show and part of what makes it hard to watch to the point where I couldn’t finish episode three. In contrast, the storyline with Bill and Frank was so incredibly well done. Their love story was so moving. Did the writers change? I feel like I’m watching a different show. |
So far, their romance plays the same beats as in the game (other than a scene of scenery). I can't say too much about it because of spoilers but they did seem to fall for each other quickly even in the game. It does seem rushed at the beginning but there is a bit of trauma bonding moving forward. I have explained it away in my head as things between them had been bubbling for a while. There was a scene in season 1 where a girl seem interested in Ellie when they first got to Jackson. 4 years later, it could be time for them to act on it. |
| Yeah, it just seems to be handled differently than the men’s romance. Not sure if it’s the age of the characters, the writing or the acting but not as well done. |
| No |

I'm not a fan of the Ellie character, but I did like her speech at the council meeting about how going after Abby isn't about revenge, but justice. Of course, it's also about revenge, but she made a good point.
However, I couldn't help but think about Abby's father being shot. By killing Joel, Abby was seeking justice for her father. So when does it stop? |
That's the point. Who is the bad guy? It's clearly Joel. If they'd found a cure by killing one person, they could have saved thousands of people. |
It was odd to me that they went to immediate brain dissection (which would of course kill the patient) instead of running different experiments, hopefully with Ellie’s informed consent this time. Why immediately kill the one person who’d ever been immune without taking some time to strategize? I mean I know it was to advance the plot of the game/show, but it never made much sense to me. |
+1 Shouldn't they have been taking blood samples in the quest to make a vaccine? |
Well it’s just a video game, so I assume they’ve spent the past decade researching and whatever surgery they were doing was the actual cure, even if it doesn’t make sense. |
| This is the worst episode ever |
| Dina “im pregnant, let’s have sex” |
| That episode was so bad. I'm not watching anymore. Ellie is the most annoying character. |
|
I don’t think they did a very good job explaining all the factions in Seattle and their motivations. I never played the game.
Also, what pregnancy test has a shelf life of 20+ years? I swear I don’t watch to criticize small details, but there’s been several times this season where you have to just go ok and not think about it too much. Their lightning fast trip from Wyoming to Seattle? And did they just stash their horse somewhere? They didn’t seem too worried about it. |
I liked Ellie in small doses, but not as the main character. And the romance with Dina is also just awkward to watch. Like PP's "I'm pregnant, let's have sex" and then "I'm going to be a dad" was all just so implausible to me. |
