It’s too bad they didn’t cast Kaitlyn Dever as Ellie. She’s a much better actress.

Agree, and she looks like her too. Also is American.

It sounds like they are splitting game 2 into 3 seasons.

Yes, don't see how the show will survive. Bella's fantastic GOT cameos did not translate well to a lead role. I'm bored whenever she's onscreen.

Same. I’m not a fan of Bella’s acting in this show. It’s very predictable and not really good IMO. I find many of the other characters and actors far more compelling. Bella’s character gets on my nerves.

Just caught up on the first two episodes. Better than I expected. Although I agree with the comments above. The actress playing Abby doesn't physically make me buy into her as the character she is portraying. Ella is written to be an insufferable teen, so she is annoying enough already, but the bad acting really kills every scene she's in.

One episode with Joel gone and it's circling the drain.

I thought the episode did a great job moving the story forward while giving time to catch a breath after last week's. The previews look intense.

my husband pointed out that in the scene where Abby and Ellie meet, you play as Ellie, the "good guy". And I said, but Ellie and Joel are the bad guys? So it's a question of who is good and who is bad.

I couldn’t finish episode 3. It was a bit cringe. I have second hand embarrassment from watching these poorly written characters. Shame. I tried.

The characters are great. Bella Ramsey is not a great fit for Ellie.

She was a good child actress who doesn't have the training yet for adult lead roles.

I think Ellie is also an annoying, immature person. So it's not just that we don't like Bella, it's that she's playing a terrible character.

For the video game fans - what did you think of ep 3? It’s kind of funny, we started playing the game again and for the first bit the dialogue is IDENTICAL as the game. Ep 3 was the first ep where it kind of went sideways. But I don’t mind it, and it almost seems more realistic.

In the game, as soon as Joel is killed, Ellie goes to Tommy and wants to go after them. Tommy asks them to wait a day, and he will get things organized. Turns out, Tommy leaves in the night to go solo vigilante, and Ellie and Dina follow after him. In the show, they wait a few months for Ellie to heal up, and Tommy rebuilds the town. Of course also in the game the giant zombie attack on Jackson doesn’t happen, so they don’t need to rebuild anything. Also, I loved Seth’s character in the show, and I think it brings their relationship more full circle. In the game, Maria lets them out and asks Ellie to bring back her husband. So I’m not sure if Tommy will be part of that story or not.

I haven't played the game in a couple of years so I don't remember all of the specifics. However, I enjoyed Ep. 3. One of the differences between the game and the show that I enjoyed the most was the council deciding whether or not to pursue Abby and the WLF rather than it just being a one-on-one. I think it's more realistic that Ellie would try to have additional support. I'm curious to see how they handle Ellie and Dina in a fight against the WLF given that the TV show can't lean into Ellie as a superhuman video game character. In the game, I knew I would be able to play my way to winning. Not sure how two teenage girls in a "realistic" tv show will accomplish that.
