The Last of Us - HBO TV show (With game spoilers)

I found Episode 2 somewhat underwhelming, but we're in this for the long haul. There was a lot of background knowledge about how the fungus continues to spread even 20 years later. I liked seeing a ruined Boston/city and getting some backstory through that.

I was also [SPOILER]

bummed that Tess was killed in this episode, but I figured it was going to happen early on. I really hope this show is going to rely on flashbacks and that we see her in those. Her interaction with Ellie was very sweet and hinted at her being someone else once upon a time. Whereas Joel is still very much cut off from his emotions. Ellie was perceptive enough to realize that Tess was infected, but Joel was totally taken aback.

Watching it with my 16 year old gamer and loving it. Very stressful (for me who knew nothing about it but thinks Pedro can do no wrong -- ever) but good. I have missed the dystopian genre!

I found it interesting that some of the zombies have been walking around for 20 years and some for a few months.

I'm not sure I can continue this show. The zombies are very scary and there were a lot of zombies last night. I look forward to the part where they live in a community in Alexandria and it's mostly humans versus humans, haha.

What would you say is a good min age for this?

Are you confusing this show with TWD and the Alexandria Free Zone?

My 13 year old dd is watching it with us and has played the game with her dad but I don't think I would allow a younger child to watch it..

It’s good so far. But I wonder why we have so many zombie movies and tv shows. What’s the larger zeitgeist creating all this?

Really depends on the kid. My 12 yo is watching with us but my 13 yo has no interest bc he hates scary movies.

Anxiety. I mean we are living through a global pandemic and a significant period of animal extinction... it isn't hard to imagine a dystopian future.

Thank you. As somebody who hates scary movies, I am hesitant to watch this, let alone let my kids watch it. But I did watch the first half of the first episode. Is that as scary as it gets or does it get worse?

The first half? Before the zombie outbreak? There are a lot of zombies to come.

Haha, at least you got my reference but this may have been a joke, party of one. I did love how TWD had Alexandria as a rural area and single lane streets.

Episode 2 was much scarier. My 12 yo spent a lot of time under a blanket while I narrated the action.
