Maybe a lot of what we see here is driven by security considerations. Maybe the University of Michigan looked good two years ago but now looks vulnerable.

I know they don’t want to get doctorates or work in top tier tech/consulting/finance/Medicine jobs like Chelsea.

I don't understand this either. The Obama girls are well-educated young ladies. They have incredibly intelligent, highly motived parents who have reached a level of success and influence that no one on this board has ever or will ever achieve. Why would anyone assume that college is just a pretense for them? My assumption is that they are likely to be as driven as their parents and education is their top priority right now. If they want to go into law, politics, business, or any science field, college is mandatory.
