Some people value higher education for their kids. Both have law degrees. Would be pretty strange if they didn't encourage and support a college degree. Seems basic for upper middle class! |
?? What do you know about what they want to do? |
| Maybe a lot of what we see here is driven by security considerations. Maybe the University of Michigan looked good two years ago but now looks vulnerable. |
I know that. My point was why not just move to LA. Why the pretense of attending usc? |
I know they don’t want to get doctorates or work in top tier tech/consulting/finance/Medicine jobs like Chelsea. They wanna do showbiz. Any show runner or studio will hire them without college. |
+1 Does that poster speak to the Obama kids on a regular basis? 😆 I am sure they are keeping you updated, Grumpy Poster. 🤣 |
She was a former president's grandaughter, a (at the time) governor's daughter, another governor's niece, a legacy thanks to her grandfather, and she went to Hockaday. Yale would have accepted her. |
Why do you assume it's a pretense? Because she's black? |
What do you mean pretense? She's in college, she's 20 or 21 y.o.? She presumably has one more year of college left and didn't want to spend it in the cold and backwater Midwest. |
| Allegedly she wanted to go to USC originally but that admissions scandal had her parents nudge her to Michigan. |
I don't understand this either. The Obama girls are well-educated young ladies. They have incredibly intelligent, highly motived parents who have reached a level of success and influence that no one on this board has ever or will ever achieve. Why would anyone assume that college is just a pretense for them? My assumption is that they are likely to be as driven as their parents and education is their top priority right now. If they want to go into law, politics, business, or any science field, college is mandatory. Such a strange assumption on this board. |
You are spending an unhealthy amount of time on the message boards. You even think that I’m romanigypsieyew, whoever the hell that is. |
Backwater? Sounds like you’re describing most of the south. |
| Kelly Ripa’s son goes there, too. Maybe it’s the ubiquitous college town without paparazzi that’s the draw? |
| Ann Arbor is A LOT nicer than the area where USC is. A lot safer too. |
