| Is it actually possible that she wasn’t accepted to a top 10? |
Daughter of the state governor and a prestigious family, I'm sure she had a good shot one way or another. Ditto for Barbara Bush with her heavy legacy background and granddaughter of a president who was also legacy. In other words, as others have said, these kids have connections up the wazoo that makes it different from you and me. |
| Because that’s where she wanted to go? My daughter was accepted to two Ivy schools. She chose University of Florida. Kids have all kinds of reasons for choosing their colleges. |
She got into Yale SCEA |
| I would assume, since she seems to have been brought up by terrific parents, that she is going there because this is the school she wants to go to. |
| Many people don't care about rankings or regard them as meaningful. |
+1 |
| Most people would celebrate getting into UMich, even prez' daughter. This is probably the best of her options. |
+1000 I say "who cares" in that it's none of our business why she chose that school. She seems like such a sweet and centered young woman. |
| If this is true good for her. My DC graduated from Michigan and I’m a huge fan of the school. I was an Ivy snob and having now seen both don’t think they are far apart in quality or opportunity or even connections. And way more fun. |
+another 1000. I'm glad all these children leaving the WH have chosen their own paths that suit their interests. Bushes, Clinton, Obamas. Good for them. |
|
She doesn't need the connections so she can go have fun and follow fit. Her father IS a connection.
|
HPY are vastly overrated. |
| OP where did you see this? Anything more recent than last December? |
|
Well if it's good enough for Sasha, it's good enough! Maybe she wanted to make a public statement that the system has gone wild and she released the pressure valve.
Maybe she helped some poor parent who is on the receiving end of their child's screaming and crying over not getting ino HYPS and their only choice is U of M. |
