Wrong. It's well known that there was a deal in place and that Musk killed it. Keep dreaming, it ain't happening.

Well, Dems have the WH and the Senate so they are in control and they have the power until January 20 so Dems own this one thanks to Biden.

I realize you’re trolling but at least try to be accurate. The new Congress convenes January 3. Johnson will have even fewer Republican votes to lose.

PP isn’t trolling but pointing out who is in office TODAY when this is all happening. Hint: it’s not the new congress and Trump.

Yes. It’s Johnson who is speaker of the House, which is where appropriations bills originate. Seems he didn’t get around to it.

A bill was just put forward that Dems shot down. Guess they want a shutdown.

But again, this is Biden’s term and a shutdown is occurring on his watch. He should get busy.

You’re not well informed. It was a bipartisan bill that was expected to pass with Dem support until Musk blew it up with the intention of Gov shut down. Musk isn’t in Congress. He doesn’t have a vote. He cannot manipulate an already accepted bill. Don’t you get it? Musk wants a shut down. MAGA wants a shut down because their base is stupid enough to blame it on Biden. The President does not control Congress. Yet, the DOGE dickhead and his hollow puppet president elect do not have the power to influence the vote. It’s unconstitutional. Johnson is a beta.

So. What’s Johnson’s plan now?

Will he put the original CR up for a vote?

lol I’m perfectly well informed. Elon doesn’t have a vote like you said, he is a private citizen like many who raised their voices and said enough! Enough of the massive pork laden spending bills forced in under emergency terms and if that causes a shutdown, then too bad. Operations need to change. Get it?

Looks like Biden has canceled his holiday in Delaware and returned to DC to do his job so that’s good. He is still the president. This shut down is happening under his watch.

And where is Biden? Why has he essentially stepped down from office when he is still president, and why is he not out there advocating for the budget items he wants? He is the chief executive for goodness sake.

What is it you think he should be doing? His party negotiated a bill that he is reportedly satisfied with. He’s supposed to convince Republicans to vote for it? Why? Most of them were happy to do so before Elon Musk told them not to.

Seriously? He should be rallying the votes to pass a spending bill. One that can actually pass. Is he or is he not the president? Where is he? If you are foolish enough to think this is about Elon and not the constituents calling their congressmen once they found out about pork, then I guess just sit back and enjoy the political wilderness. Elon doesn’t have a vote, this is about congress. Biden has a role to play.

Rallying whose votes, and for what?

A single party bill that was negotiated without any representation from his party? Which obviously can’t pass since we just saw a vote on it last night? That’s what you want Biden to “rally votes” for?

Original CR is dead. Not happening. Dems need to realize this.

Keep up. The original CR is dead. Second version is dead. Unless he wants this to continue, he needs to get with his party in congress and work out option 3. This is called governance.

Then why did the fiscal conservative Republicans vote against it?

I also find it hilarious that the republicans now want the debt ceiling lifted when they were so opposed to that in the past. Trump/Musk should let the legislators legislate and not make 11th hour demands.

Ok. So what is Johnson’s plan then? He has the majority in the House, right?

The Democrats were not included in drafting the new bill. Why do you expect a bipartisan or nonpartisan vote for a partisan bill? They have a negotiated bipartisan bill and refuse to put it to a vote. The do-nothing Republican majority is so dysfunctional that they only allow the House to vote on bills that they know will fail.

100%. This is owned by the GOP.

How will the optics appear if we have an extended shutdown under Biden that abruptly ends after an elaborate Trump inauguration? This is what the democrats are doing to themselves.

Sorry, this is what America voted for utter chaos and gross incompetence.

Back to the drawing board! Sounds like an all hands on deck operation. Get to it, Congress.

We voted for an end to all this bloated spending.

Seems an unlikely scenario. Suspect that the GOP will drop Mike as Speaker. Who knows how long it will take them to select a new one.

I am a federal worker and I blame Biden or lack of leadership and Democrat House members for voting no on the latest CR and, most of my colleagues agree. It's not the time to play politics but fund tge government operations with a clean as possible CR.
