In the first reports, witnesses on the ground were mentioned, but no one wanted to talk.
The video doesn't show the fall, what you see is them before, then there's a shot from the window looking out then down to the concrete, but baby isn't in the shot. You get a feel how high up they are and the wind is blowing. |
| After he drops her in the ny post video, you can see other passengers from the deck look out the window, so others from both deck and ground saw the babies bodyvon the concrete. |
Exactly. You can't tell me those people were completely unaffected and just went on to have a jolly old time on the rest of their cruise. |
I don’t want to watch this video. Can someone who has watched it explain? Is this a video taken from outside the ship? Did he actually have her dangling outside the window for a while before she fell? If he did actually dangle her outside the window, what defense could he possibly use besides insanity? |
| I've watched the video a few times now and the more I see it I'm convinced grandpa is lying. Its him bending over the rail, sticking his body out, then the way he grabs baby and puts her out the window hanging on single handedly, the wind blowing, the bar scene. In one video it looked liked he may have ordered a drink immediately before dropping her. Those passengers in the bar saw the baby one minute, then she's dead the next minute. |

I can barely make out what's what on the videos. It's very grainy, at a distance, from an angle where you can intuit what happens - big blog follows small white toddling thing, big blob leans over (what presumably is open window), big blob bends down and rises up with small white thing and returns to leaning over (window), after 20 seconds or so the big blob seems to fall down or something.
It is not graphic at all. But it does leave little doubt that the grandfather understood he was dangling her out a window. Gotta say, I still don't get it - I've read this thread and previous ones with all kinds of theories etc. None of them seem all that persuasive. I just don't understand how a 50-something year-old guy does something that completely and pointlessly stupid. |
| Grandpa (and lawyer's) persistent lies are just awful. Claiming he's color blind, months after the fact? What does that have to do with deliberately going out the window? |
| He clearly bends over railing for some time and the way he picks her up and puts her out there, holding her with one hand is all the proof needed. |
| Yep. What he did makes no sense at all but it doesn't change the fact that he did it. I don't know if it was some sort of insane momentary impulse on his part or what the heck happened but he did it. |
He’s not disputing that he dropped her. He’s claiming he didn’t know that the window was open. That is what the video proves is a lie. |
Thanks! A lot of families that I have known that had a child die young did go on to have another child very quickly afterwards. Honestly stories like this make me so glad my kids are all nearly grown (youngest is 13 and nearly twice my size!) |
| Has the South Bend police department made any type of statement about the fact that one of their officers is involved in defending this man, and filing a frivolous lawsuit? |
| Many passengers got up to look out the window after grandpa dropped her. |
I never would have looked. A decade ago, a coworker caught his hand in a press. All of my coworkers took a look. I called 911 and kept my eyes covered. I did not need that in my head. |
I don't think they knew exactly what happened. They didn't look for long. |
