The lawsuit against Royal Caribbean/toddler death

Well, here it is:

Doesn't say how much they want.

It does say that grandpa is 51! and that he told the Puerto Rico police that he was holding the girl out the window when she fell. Now, maybe the police made that inference by what Sam said, or maybe he actually said that. Hard to know exactly what he said or what he meant.

He said in a recent interview that he was holding her with one arm around her when she fell. I wonder if she fell forward OVER the TOP of his arm or if she slipped through his arm and dropped below. Was the girl reaching forward and then he lost hold of her legs as she went forward? That makes more sense to me if her feet weren't on the railing --- but rather -- she was fully forward of the railing out in the window. If she was standing ON the railing, it makes more sense that she might have slipped off the railing and dropped out of his grip.

For some reason, the former (no feet on the railing/leaning forward/falling forward) seems more negligent on Sam's part.

Sam was 51! Which is super young... he's not some demetia-suffering old fool! He's only a year older than me!

RC is going to find witnesses and the testimony will be devastating to the family and their image.

So the lawyer says the video corroborates that grandpa thought the window was closed, yet the police report that grandpa said he was holding the kid out the window. Can’t hold the kid out the window if you think the window was closed.

Too bad the family won’t be held accountable for RCs legal fees.

God I hate this thread as much as the other one. A horrific tragedy that just gets worse as time goes on.

Wait until the lawsuits come for the New Zealand volcano. Most of the victims were from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship

Agree. It's awful, and it continues to be awful in different ways.

PP here and that's what I meant. No one will ever actually win anything in this situation. It's just a situation where everybody loses.

Why is it a big deal he's 51?

because people were originally feeling sorry for him assuming he was elderly.

There's nothing that would make the grandfather *not* negligent. The child could see out from the floor, just like at her brother's hockey games. Grandpa clearly deliberately lifted her him so she could feel the air/breeze, and lost his grip. Don't dangle toddlers out of windows and then blame someone else for your stupidity.

That he’s not done feeble old man. He’s 6 years older than I am, and I have a kindergartner.

Dude is not a feeble old geezer. He was still working for goodness sake.

He's younger than I am as a matter of fact. I don't have a lot of sympathy for his situation. And I am having a hard time understanding how an accident like this could even happen.
