APS Elementary Planning Mtg at Swanson - Option 1 in, Option 2 out, McKinley Moms out of contro

I’m honestly confused. ASFS for instance could also be moving to a new school (principal and staff stay at ASFS but almost entire population moves to key, though likely about 1/5 will be dispersed to LB, Taylor, etc). So almost the exact same scenario as McKinely and Key, except they keep their staff and teachers in the move. But ASFS is welcoming a relief from overcrowding.

It sounds like a divorce. Amicable or not?

Nothing, she’s just too dumb to understand basic analysis.

You will start at ASFS next year for K, and then will move to Key the following year along with the majority of the ASFS student body.

People are willfully ignoring the fact that boundaries will be adjusted after the option school moves are decided. Some of them are stupid and others are using the false numbers as a scare tactic to rile up the stupids.

Don't poke the Tuckahoe bear. The guy who lives right by Tuckahoe will go head to head with McKrazy.

Can we sell tickets as a fundraiser?

I can't wait to see the Tuckahoe Bear get Medieval on McKrazy! Fundraiser at the skate park will be a sellout.

+1. Most of the school will move with you.

Fundraiser for SA schools - remember it is for the kids.

And don’t forget to invite your Representative. He’ll want to get in on this.

Definitely would need to shrink. And MCK and Reed boundaries would travel eastward like a plague b/c so many seats.

The act of moving ATS (or any option school) will shrink it's current population. Not 100% of students from current location will go to new location (wherever that is). So that's not a fully valid argument. Tuckahoe should be discussed as Option 3.

If McK wanted to stay put they needed to fight the charge to make Reed a neighborhood school. But that wasn't happening because a good chunk of McK is in Westover and they wanted a neighborhood school there.

I'd want to see boundaries/walk zones map with Tuckahoe being option and compare that to option 1's map, before concluding the same, if I were McKinley PTA. Remember if one is not overwhelmingly 'better' then it's just a game of playing politics.

I do not understand the mindset that once an option school is in place it must remain in that location forever, even to the detriment of the system as a whole. It’s not like they have moved any of these schools within the lifetime of current students. This isn’t for funsies. A lot of students will move as a result of these changes to relieve overcrowding; no one school community is alone in the crosshairs, and no one is a victim.
