| Wow, the live stream of the APS Elementary Boundary Planning meeting tonight was really something--I look forward to a live report. The presentation, particularly the Q&A, was repeatedly interrupted by screamers who seemed to be lacking some perspective. The big news is that at this point staff is recommending Option 1 (Key to ATS, ATS to McKinley, McKinley most to Reed) rather than the more complicated Option 2 given that area (western Pike) is where future CIP efforts will be. They were also clear that ATS is not going away at this point (the IPP will be refined under new leadership over the next two years). In my view staff made a good case that the neighborhood school that has to go is McKinley not just because of its location, but also its size--it's a lot harder to fill up McKinley with neighborhood kids with Reed next door than other popular proposals (Tuckahoe/Nottingham). |
| Yeah, McKinley won itself no outside supporters tonight. It's pretty bad when the audience bursts into laughter when staff says they'll take the q&a "out into the hall". |
|
Were they McKinley parents who were SCREAMING throughout the presentation? So insane. Send a dr over to that school in the AM. Serious mental illness there.
|
| Good. We’re in Courthouse and we’d like our local school because we’re packed to the gills at ASFS. This option always made sense to deal with where the buildings and the kids are. |
| They held the meeting in McKinley territory. I missed it, but am trying to find it now- everytime I click on watch again it takes me back to the PTA meeting. |
Their comments weren't entirely audible on the livestream, but from what I could hear and the responses staff attempted they questions were from McKinley parents (Swanson is nearby). |
| Key to ATS and be done with this nonsense already. The former Key building can then become some weird neighborhood school. |
| Oh man, I missed it, and the APS webpage goes back to the 12/2 meeting when I try to watch it... |
huh |
|
Do we want to place bets on what will actually happen? Did the McKinley Mafia have matching T-shirts?
Because traditionally, if you have matching T-shirts, the SB reverses itself. |
Weird boundaries |
The McKinley mafia will fail because it is a family divided (lots of McKinley families are closer to Reed). |
| Now I have to go watch the recording, because those parents sound deranged. |
| unless you are Arlington Heights |
I think you mean Columbia Heights |
