Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
You are all fooling yourself. You have no clue what's going on. Systems cannot retain teachers. I can retire but I can guarantee three more will replace me in 10 years. Ignorance is bliss, I suppose. |
| I don't think implosion is needed. But ignoring systematic problems will do more harm than good. If these problems are systematic then the system will implode itself. If they are systematic you would see data and evidence to back up the claim. Well the shortage in education among many many other data points point to the fact is systemic failure to the ideals of education and educators having the right time work without harrassment. |
Ask someone to proofread this and then repost. |
| It looks like you don't like progressive ideas that help people. You like to start a conversation about typing on small cellphone device keyboards. Start a new thread about it. This is about demoralization. Thank you. |
NP. Right. That's why MCPS currently has 168 unfilled teaching positions as of today, one week into the 2nd quarter. Because teachers are so lucky, and their job is a cinch. Such a cinch that they literally can't pay anyone to do it. Many of those jobs have been posted since the start of the year and there's no even marginally qualified applicants to fill them, 3 months later. So lucky! |
A job being a great job does not mean there are limitless qualified applicants. MCPS is being picky and it’s a good thing because it is a long process to fire people who should not be in the classroom. |
What is the progressive idea? Let the public school system that thousands of poor kids depend on implode? Complain in a rambling manner and post YouTube videos on DCUM? |
What makes you think they’re being picky? |
Seriously. They're not being picky. They've scraped through the bottom of the barrel and are underneath it at this point. I've seen some of the resumes our admin has gotten from HR. |
| I work in a private school in Montgomery County and know a lot of mcps teachers. I can't recall another time period-- and I've been at this a long time-- when so many of them wanted advice about getting a job in a private school. I feel bad about that and wish things were better for them where they are. There are not that many jobs in private schools, and often there's less money, and many feel stuck. |

If you do a Google or YouTube search about educational bullies or teachers that quit due to a multitude of issues beyond their control it seems like the toxicity is clearly evident in the profession and beyond the teachers control.
In my experience there are many lackluster people who got in, got tenure, and feel threatened when good people try to do their job well. Toxic people will drive good people out as ideologies clash. |
| There are many you tube videos about the toxic profession, there are many organizations dealing with it, regular news stories as well etc. If you are an mcps pet that's great but the truth comes out in numbers because there are problems. Sorry if it hurts your feelings. The profession has the worst attrition ever. Trust me it's not a coincidence. I used to be a Democrat that agreed with unionization. I now realize that it is not really a union but just political pandering and waste fraud and abuse. |
| They are not being picky. They just ran out of people with the mass firings and mass exodus in education. Can you blame them??? |

Resume coming to a mcps school near you. I'm sure she has glowing reviews. |
Holy cow! |
