But every time she's on the screen my mind goes to her weight issues: how she manages, how she gets her clothes, isn't she tired all the time, could she ever have a healthy pregnancy, etc etc. So I'm thinking about the weight issues and not feeling what else is going on with her character's life. It didn't start out like this but has evolved to this for me. I'm not proud.

I feel the same way. She just looks so uncomfortable to me.

I agree, and I am someone who struggles with weight/ am technically obese, although not her size.

I thought that was the point, to make the audience empathize with how weight affects every moment of her life. If we are thinking about it all the time, I can only imagine how much she thinks about it and how much it impacts her every activity!

I feel like Chrissy/Kate is wearing some additional weight in her wardrobe to fit the character. I don't know that for sure- and maybe it's commonly known that she's not, but she's more particularly round/apple-shaped than a lot of obese people that large, so I assumed she was maybe 50-100lb smaller in real life.

I think that is all her. If you see pictures of her from the Golden Globes she looks just as large. I think her body type is so that she is very apple shaped.

Sterling was great as usual. Justin is better than he gets credit for. What’s wrong with Mandy Moore’s glasses? It’s her hairstyle I don’t understand.

I think she is normal. Not average, mind you, but normal. YOU want that storyline to be over. I'm sure the actress and character would like it to be "over" too. What a relief that would be (for her)! It's just that she .... can't. She's trying to make that storyline over. She's trying to lose the weight. OR alternatively at other moments she's trying to accept the weight. Then it would be over. How convenient for herself and for you.

I agree with you on Sterling & Justin.

I'm not sure what people's issues with Mandy's look though. What other hairstyle would you give to her?

Re the weight storyline, I think we said the same thing. You just said it in a preachy, lecturing way.
Re old Rebecca's hairstyle: the show hits every style just right except this one. There isn't another person on earth who wears their hair like this. Rebecca never would.

No one else wears their hair like hers? Are you sure about that?

I think what was great about chrissy’s casting, and I know it was like this at first, is that she offered a great representation of a very large woman in a major role on tv.

99% of the time big people are not represented well on tv. See discussions of American housewife. Her character is “fat” but a lot of people are like, “she’s not that big.”

It is supposed to be defining. It’s supposed to catch your attention. I’m sorry it is ‘distracting’ to you.

-signed, so called preachy person from above. Preachy because I’m right.

More like bitchy. But your apology is accepted.

They really nailed the dynamics of addiction in a family. It's rare that television shows the extensive enabling and denial that goes on in some families - plus the fact that addiction is passed on from parent to child. I was really impressed.

I thought the therapy scene was really well done too. For other outstanding therapy scenes, see Big Little Lies. Just superb. Such a treat to be watching quality shows.

Just a prediction. I think they buy the cabin after Jack's father dies and his house/residual assets pass to Jack.

I also think that Sophie will be pregnant and not tell Kevin right away. The actress is pregnant in real life.

I heavily sympathize with Kevin and feel like Justin Hartley has been SO overlooked while Sterling Brown and Chrissy Metz get the accolades. He's doing an incredible job portraying Kevin

Totally agree. His acting is so natural, I sometimes forget he's acting. He's completely believable.

I feel the same way about Metz's weight. It's just so unhealthy and that's all I keep thinking when she's on screen - when is she going to keel over from a heart attack? Honestly, it would be a public service if the show portrayed someone of her weight deciding to lose it, once and for all. It might inspire others.

Yup. As soon as the dog showed up this is what I thought.

I also agree.

While I understand this conclusion based on what has happened, isn't this impossible based on what we already know? We saw that the family gets a phone call that he has passed away. So they are not in the house, there is no fire when the kids are home because we saw Kate and Randall we're home when the phone rang, and Kate said I have to be the one to tell Kevin.

I believe they're all at Miguel's house when they find out Jack died, and Kate is trying to figure out where Kevin is so she can tell him.

not one of the above posters, but in this weeks episode, when they are sitting on the bench together I found it distracting. She just looked so uncomfortable, like she couldn't move or breath. Oftentimes on screen she looks like a big floating head.

Exactly. Anyone claiming her weight isn't distracting is not being honest. That's all you see when she's on screen. She looks incredibly uncomfortable.
