Conservative DCUM'ers: how far back do you want LGBTQ rights rolled back?

Why? Why is this necessary? And, why in front of children?
Do what you want in the privacy of your home.

Being topless in NYC is legal for all men and all women all year long. I would say that if you saw this in public and you were with a child, you can take your child away from the situation. This is true whether is a group of lesbians as in the video or a single straight woman choosing to walk topless down the street.

Making it legal does not make it right.

Your puritan morals, ethics, and standards are not facts. You and your morals are not right.

Actual Democrat here, not just a Republican operative paid to pretend to be one.

Yep, that’s too much, but then I wouldn’t take my child to any such thing. I wonder if they felt less like their lives were in danger all the time if they would dial it back.

I think it's fine for them to be topless in public. If someone thinks it's inappropriate for their children to see the upper half of a woman's body then they should remove their children from people that choose to be naked from the waist up. It's incumbent on you as a parent to police your morals. It's not the job of every other human on the planet to conform to your standards.

Hardly a puritan, honey.. And the women in the video are still exhibitionists. Making "topless" legal simply exposes them. In more way than one.

They are not just topless. They are totally nude. Men.

Why? Why is this necessary? What is the point?

I’m originally from a rural small town. When I visit my parents, there are Trump yard signs around. I’ve chatted with people from town who tell about abut gay children or gay grandchildren. They seem very accepting and have no issue with it. And in the same conversation, they’ll tell me the election was unfair and how wonderful Trump was for our country.

From their signs it looks like a body positivity movement. Personally, I have few objections to nudity that is not sexualized. If people are riding bikes nekkid or dancing in a fountain, it seems pretty joyful and benign to me.

It is indecent exposure. And, unless I am incorrect, public nudity is not legal.
Why is it ok here?

That’s what I love most about nudists. At least where I live, it’s different ages and body types. They promote feeling good and accepting yourself and others. It’s not sexual.

That's lovely. They can take their promotion of feeling good to nudist camps and other places where it is legal. Not on public streets.

Anonymous wrote:This is a difficult one for me. I grew up in an evangelical church where I was preached to about homosexuality being a sin and how gay marriage would open the door to anything and everything.

I didn’t really know what to think, and grew up to become a moderate voter who has some progressive beliefs. I’m hardly conservative but not very liberal either.

Now I’m really concerned the minister and others were right. Now gay marriage is legal and we have drag queen events at my local bookstore in a small town. The transgender kid thing is bizarre and doesn’t make sense. I was recently asked at the on-gyn if I identify as a woman or man or if I’m a man or woman. It seems like gay marriage has made everything worse. I don’t want homosexuality in my face and don’t want my kids exposed at a young age. It used to be a fringe lifestyle and now it’s something young kids are exposed to on a regular basis. Make it stop.

Why? Because gay people forming families in a manner you are unfamiliar with makes you uncomfortable? Sounds like a you problem. The solution to your being uncomfortable should be solved by making LGBTQ people more uncomfortable by shoving them back in the closet. LGBTQ has always existed and will always exist and no one should have their family marginalized because your issues. It should be solved by asking “what would Jesus do”? And I realize your preacher taught you the answer was hatred and fear. But the Bible is pretty clear that you should lead with love, empathy and an effort to understand and accept others.

I grew up in the rural South in a conservative church without trans kids too. And I’m not going to pretend that I “get” it. What I do get, especially after talking with—and much more importantly listening too— my own college aged children and my friends with non-binary and trans kids, is that these are very vulnerable kids and a large percentage commit suicide. I would rather feel uncomfortable with the increased visibility of trans kids than have those kids kill themselves because they are square pegs who cannot not fit through round holes.

And BTW, gay marriage didn’t “cause” kids to become trans. What it did was allow kids who were already trans to finally get the help and support they needed.

And drag shows/ drag Queen story hours have been around forever. They are just more visible because RWNJs think people like you will be outraged enough to vote for Trump. And, to be fair, your most makes it clear they are right. If they bother you, don’t go.

However, I want gay people to be as safe as possible in public which is why I think that if a baker doesn’t want to make you a cake because you’re queer, than you should find another baker for the safety of you and your guests. It’s a cake- a hateful baker could poison it! I just want our society to get over the fact that LGBTQ folks exist and move on. I have a few questions about trans people (and I think there should be a separate league for trans athletes) but my faith tells me to love everyone.

I don’t think kids need to learn about LGBTQ topics in school. My kids know that some people are gay, some people are straight, some people are trans/bi/etc and that we should love them. That’s all they need to know.

It does drive me a little crazy as a biracial woman that I get a day and queer people get a month. Doesn’t really seem fair considering the days inner racial and gay marriage were legalized during the same month.

To be fair, you also get Women's History Month and Black History month…

Iwouldn’t take my kids. Which is my right as a parent. I also would not take my minor child to a nude beach. But if I did in the Great State of Florida, it would be legal.
