This thread alone makes it clear that most white people don’t and won’t get it. She’ll blame everyone else but herself. |
except that’s not what happened. she apologized when the snapchat was first shared, to the extent her black friend later defended her. and she later posted in support of BLM. so she did learn and grow. but that was evidently NOT was her cancellation was about. |
Oh, just shut up. The tide of public opinion has come down squarely against the behavior of the young man who, at 18, made a deliberate decision to wreck a young woman’s life, and it’s not just white people saying this. The Galligans raised a turd of a son, and he is the one who now will be held accountable for his poor behavior. |
Are you an adult? Are you the girls dad? Thought so. Do a better job of parenting. You've shown your failure. |
I don’t think there are $1.5M houses in that part of Loudoun but obviously the Galligan kid had wheels and a very expensive wardrobe. Maybe if he’d had to work a bit more he would have had less time to plot about how and when to mess up other kids’ lives. What a silly little gossip girl. |
As was she. Oh well. |
"she apologized when the snapchat was first shared, to the extent her black friend later defended her. and she later posted in support of BLM. so she did learn and grow. but that was evidently NOT was her cancellation was about."
+1 Yup the cancellation was about total purity and never being allowed to move on from having apologized and learned from something dumb or wrong you did when you were young |
It's disgusting how you are determined to go after the kid who reported this, dad. Do a better job not raising racists. |
I remember when this happened. The kid tried to ruin the lives of more than a dozen of his peers. She wasn’t the only one. |
It's really easy to google and find his address. Zillow estimates it at $1, 375,000 ish. |
DP. Really? I'm a black woman and I assure you, being called an n word is way more offensive than being called a B. And I don't use either of those words. I think the girl was 15 when it happened and should be allowed to learn and move on. Her punishment was too harsh. I disagree, however, with adults who minimize the use of the n word. This thread is disappointing on both sides. |
I can't get over the level of anger being exposed on this thread. People really identify with this young woman and the shades of grey at using the N word have been totally overlooked in the need to empathize with her. I think this is where systemic racism is at it's worst. Historically white people have had the most power and the ability to empathize with only people who look like them continues to have major consequences for people who don't. |
Weirdest part of this for me is that Galligan is attending an evangelical Christian college. I wonder if his behavior might violate its code of conduct. |
Apparently the college he has chosen to attend has a policy condemning same sex relationships. Great bunch of kids there. So much assholery in this story. |
She wasn't even addressing anyone in particular. She said all of 4 words and not in an angry way. I can't detect any anger in her words. The 3 second clip was when she was 15. Do you think someone should be attacked and told to leave college for this? It's just not worthy of the reaction this guy had. He's trying to retaliate in a very poor way. |
