Psst...your anti-Semitism is showing.

And the only one stirring up racist animus was the young woman.

No actually, there were many classmates, teachers and administrators who have stirred up racist animus. You seem hell bent on pinning it all on this one student. What’s up with that?

Right... give her a pass. Nope; people have to learn and if her example serves to stop others, that’s fine.

When racism happens is bad. When you take action years later I’m reminded of the MeToo movement - this time it’s on an opposite fashion.

Women wait until they’re rich and “successful’ to denounce alleged acts of violence.
Now, this boy waited until the girl was working her way to success and destroyed her immediate future.

In a pure exhibition of cancel culture. Idk if I should clap or cry or laugh.

The cancel culture is real. Everyone jumps on the bandwagon to take down the latest craze.

Real racism is horrible and is definitely a problem in this country. Is this it? Maybe. But I’m not sure.

I do think it is hypocritical for rap music makers to sell their music and image using all sorts of racial slurs and then for people to be up in arms when young people try to act like them.

I have sat my kids down and had talks to them about how they cannot use words they hear their friends (who are black) use. It’s hard for them to understand why they can use the words and it not mean anything bad, but if they were to use them, it would be bad. I explain it to them, but they are so far removed from it, they still think it’s stupid.

Cancel culture is a made up trope of the right that they use to get everyone riled up. Cancel culture doesn’t exist. It’s called consequences.

I don’t recall the black kid who used to hit me whenever he felt like it in high school ever facing any consequences for his actions, much less getting called out by the New York Times in a feature. I guess widespread bullying just doesn’t sell as well as “systemic racism.”

This. Stop making excuses for this girl. We are no longer in the 1950s. This girl was born into a world where it is explicitly clear that the n-word is racist.

Adults willing to sacrifice the lives of young people to advance their own agendas are a special breed of stupid and evil.

Well fortunately it wasn’t “adults that sacrifice her life” Mimi’s peers held her accountable and made her nasty mouth go viral. Sometimes kids know better...

Nope; just preventing real lives from being actually sacrificed again by confronting discrimination early.

You are more hateful than the girl who posted the video.

I’m ok with that since it means I’m calling racists like this girl and you out. It makes you uncomfortable, and that’s a good thing.

I thought it was childish to hang onto the video waiting for the right moment, he should have called it out immediately. School wouldn't do anything then take it higher up the chain.

But the part where is said at the boy's "maternal family gatherings that the N-word was thrown around sometimes". So that's acceptable? You won't catch me saying it but it needs to be bad for *everyone*, not only for some. Sorry, lost my support at that part.

It's a classless thing to say.
These incidents obviously occur everywhere and should not be tolerated. Yes, even black kids do the same thing to Asians and white kids in majority black schools. I have several mixed race relatives who attend loudon county schools and they have had much better experiences than is described in the article.

Again, it’s nobody’s fault but hers. As PP noted, she grew up in an era when this type of racism is totally not tolerated. She chose to do this, now it’s time to deal with the consequences. If her life is sacrificed, which I doubt it very much is given her privilege, it’s no one’s fault but her own. To suggest otherwise is to tolerate maladjusted behavior.

Besides using the n-word in one video that wasn’t even racially motivated (her real crime might be cultural appropriation), what evidence is there that she is racist? Using the word might make you stupid, but it doesn’t necessarily make you racist.

Nope. When that word rolls easily off the tongue, you’re a racist.
