That is a lie. I am there and there is maybe 1/4 inch at 8.40.

Are you Taylor's mom? I just typed bethesda into weather dot gov snow total map and it says .7 inches in bethesda.

Maybe on the grass. Roads and sidewalks are clear

+1. Just walked my ES kid in Bethesda 10 minutes to school. Maybe a half inch on the grass, nothing on the roads. Traffic fine-seemed like fewer cars on the road but driving more slowly.

MS kid arrived on time to school by bus. I’m happy MCPS opened today.

Absolutely not clear. I’m in Rockville. All of the neighborhood roads have some kind of snow cover somewhere on them. It is especially bad at some of the intersections at small neighborhood roads like where they go into the schools. In addition, many of the highways ramps have full coverage of snow. That’s starting to go away now that the cars are actually traveling on it.

Just drove from Shady Grove Road to Grovsner Metro. It is bad on the roads.

Because you idiots complained the other day someone will get hurt.

If you don't want to take care of your own kids stop having them.

The main reason people complained on Tuesday is because Taylor opened high schools at 9:45 but did not allow morning childcare to open meaning teachers could not get to work on time. He (sort of) apologized for that.

I would absolutely complain again about that psychotic decision. And him choosing to open schools today is on him. A closure with offices and child care open would have been completely fine with me.

+1. People complaining about a bad decision are not responsible for someone else making a different bad decision. I'm not sold that today's decision was a bad decision, but either way, MCPS is responsible for that.

People need to stop using cleared main roads as examples for why today’s status was the right call.

My high school grump left at 7 am and drove himself to school. (Silver Spring to DC). If there had been a delay, he’d be leaving now and from what I can see it’s snowing heavier and roads are pretty slushy. So I’m not sure a delay would’ve helped…I feel like typically MCPS would’ve closed on a day like this.

But a delay should have been considered here given the issues with buses (too early to tell about the ES buses) here in south county.

But a delay would mean kids going to school at the height of the snow..that makes no sense

“Height of the snow”? The total accumulation is not going to be very much and it’s been snowing at the same slow rate all morning. A delay would have given more time to treat roads (yes even though the snow continues to accumulate a tiny bit) and ensure that the buses would be out running routes on time. The alternative of kids waiting at bus stops for an hour doesn’t make sense either. There have been many reports of late buses and they are still coming in.

Ideally MCPS would be better prepared to ensure the buses run on time in this kind of weather but I’m not optimistic.

They have to call an early release by 10:30. My kid is saying that the teachers are predicting and early release, they want kids getting back before more ice accumulation.

Just look on twitter (X) @mcfrsPIO. There are dozens of accidents and delays all over the county.... North, south, east and west....

Parents who complained the other day screw you.

Am on a public bus on my way to work. And traffic is fine

We believe you

Multiple crashes on 270 both directions. Dusting covers highway lanes, especially local and exit ramps. Sidewalks are slippery.

It’s time for Taylor to resign.

So that you can take charge? Because the DCUM mommies with their torches and pitchforks won't come for you when you make a conservative call that inconveniences them?

Skidding all over the place just to get into the parking lot at the school right now. It’s incredibly dangerous and just a very bad idea. Taylor must resign.

You can't handle some skidding at slow speeds without crashing into something? You need to take some driving lessons.

You apparently have no reading comprehension capabilities. Nobody said anything about crashing. Just that they were kidding. No one said anything that it was at any high speed or low speed. Maybe you need to go back to school

They said it was "incredibly dangerous", implying they thought they would lose control and crash into something. And they said they were pulling into a parking lot, so they were hopefully going slow.

Because you idiots can't drive, we'll get another closure due to little snow. Learn to take your time and leave plenty of space in front of you. It's really not that hard to drive in this. I want my children educated, and since this school system refuses to build in an adequate number of snow days, they need to reserve the one day for an actual impactful snowfall. And before you say a 2 hr delay doesn't burn a snow day, it's still snowing as kids would be arriving to school with a 2 hr delay. We all know you paranoids would now be calling for a full closure for something that can be dealt with with a little bit of cautious and defensive driving.

Go f$ck yourself. I will absolutely complain next time Taylor refuses to open child care in time for teachers to get to work. I get that Taylor believes kids should be home with their mommies unless they are in school, but he needs to keep that to himself and treat his own employees and other working parents with respect.

You can take driving lessons as an adult. It sounds like you would benefit from it.

Honestly I did not skid once in my tiny subcompact car with fwd and no snow tires. I just drove slowly.
