I recall a story about how after hurricane Sandy, he told his employees that they still had to come in. Many were dealing with flooded homes, and it was difficult to get there. He grumbled, "What's the big deal." Apparently, he thought that everyone lived in the Trump building like he did and could get to work easily by just hopping on the elevator.

We know what the payoff was. A 60% raise. It was a great deal for the ILA.

A back room deal was arranged to delay the strike until January. Members are saying it was a payoff by Biden administration officials. He should have used Hartley-Taft, but I suppose he doesn’t what he’s most familiar with.

We know what the payoff was. A 60% raise. It was a great deal for the ILA.

That was in the original negotiations but there were other asks as well. The payoff was in a smoke filled room and members won’t see a dime from it.

In an election year, so close to Nov, of course this was done behind closed doors to avoid a bigger mess but only temp until the new folks come in and can deal with it. It's basically like a CR delaying decision till another time because nobody wants to be the bad guy. Just because something keeps running does not mean it's fixed and working perfectly. It'll continue until it doesn't work anymore and we'll have to come up with something new.

Republican-owned businesses were probably already getting calls from anxious customers. And I’m sure many dockworkers were living paycheck to paycheck and just really afford the loss of income, even for a relatively short period.
