Taylor Swift is awful (and her music isn't even very good)

My theory is that there are actually like 3 but they are VERY devout.

Many of the DC parenting community are now millennials who listened to Taylor throughout their high school and college years.

That makes sense. I'm a millennial who listen to different artists in HS/college, but I'm not out on the internet defending every move they make. I enjoy some of Taylor's music, but whenever I see a tweet about her, all the replies are "sHe iS SOOOO iCoNic" and "I can't wait to buy five copies of this album!" Even some of the replies on this thread were people quite clearly upset that some people don't like Taylor and/or her music. The parasocial relationship she has created with their fans, such that they need to defend this multi-millionaire like she's some tiny flower, is wild.

+1

I get that some people like her and her music, I just can't imagine going to bat for her on the internet. I have musicians whose music I love but I know very little about their private lives and if I saw a thread or headline criticizing them I'd just move on with my life.

This thread is 30 pages long because of the Swift supporters who can't bear to read a negative opinion about her without responding, not because of the overwhelming vitriol against her (it's mild at best). That should tell you something.

This thread wouldn't exist except but for the person who thought everyone needed to know how much she hated Taylor Swift. What does that tell you? If OP wants to put their opinion out there, people are free to respond. Why is that so hard to take for people like you?

How moronic and embarassingly fragile do you have to be to convince yourself that, there can only be one person who 'hates' swift? People like you are just so...how do i even say this nicely ? Dumb? Even tween girls aren't this gullible. What kind of alchemy did you come up with to know for certain only one person on this thread isn't into your cult of personality. Sad.

OP is exactly that, one person. She started this thread, almost assuredly to troll. What in the world are you smoking that you don't understand how this works? That person knew exactly what they were doing, and multiple people responded. It's weird you think that nobody would be allowed to comment or disagree with a post that was obviously designed to provoke. Whew, probably time to go back to your homework, child. Your $.05 words don't make you seem any smarter. Were you the same loser from before trying to wow everyone with your embarrassing lack of business sense?

Did he make as much money as he expected to? Seems doubtful. Seems like he sold the catalog off to try to stop the bleeding. And he responded publicly about how he regretted how everything happened (Swift resented that Braun wanted a signed NDA just to sit down and discuss the recordings with him). Possibly because he got a lot of hate over it.

Swift seems to have made a bunch of money off of it also. Her new versions of her old music sold millions and went up the charts. Seems like a win to me, but I don't hate her music so *shrug*

Geez. Way to contradict yourself. Braun made lots and lots of money but, he didn't make lots and lots and lots of money . Ok, Hailey.

Who are these people you keep calling responders to you? Are these just random female millennial names or are we supposed to know who they are?

My point above isn't contradictory, it seems pretty straightforward. Braun made a bunch of money off Swift, but not nearly as much as he expected to. He certainly did not expect Swift to rerelease her old albums and compete with her earlier music for sales and plays on Spotify etc. I mean, if you think he is some kind of genius in the way he handled this and Swift's moves on the rerecordings have been mistakes, I'd say you are wrong and clearly biased. And I'm not even a Swift fan, I just don't hate her.

I AM a feminist, and I appreciate that she wouldn't sign an NDA just for the privilege of meeting with Braun to talk about the mere possibility of buying her stuff. I'm tired of men silencing women with NDAs. Eff that.

Lmfao. Did Braun tell you the specific amount he hoped to make? Concern trolling much?

Right, I’m sure he totally expected competition from the artist herself, backed by her loyal fan base, on the Spotify and radio plays. You are being so deliberately obtuse that it’s funny!

if i buy something at a certain price and resell it at a muh higher price. I have made a profit. Therefore, my observation stands.

Just selling something at a higher price is not how investment decisions are made. If his profit was below expectations, then it was a bad investment and he could have made more investing elsewhere.

Please tell us what his expectations were. Wanna-be business connaisseur .

Stop using big words you can’t spell. Nobody thinks you’re intelligent anyway.

Let me guess: you think the appropriate spelling is "connoisseur." No wonder you're a swift fan. Piss-poor taste in music tracks closely with piss-poor knowledge of foreign words and their appropriate spellings. It's CONNAISSEUR, indeed. It's also not a big word unless, in your uncultured case, any foreign word is a "big word."

DP, but

I fixed the typos in your post. You're welcome.

Why the hate?

This is how I feel. Not a crazed fan. Not a hater. Perfectly pleasant music. I actually REALLY liked Folklore and thought it was a huge leap forward in terms of songwriting.

NP. The English word is spelled connoisseur because it was borrowed from French before the French spelling changed from connoisseur to connaisseur. It's been an English word for 300 years. We're speaking English so connaisseur is at the very least, non-standard, if not exactly "wrong."

What perfect timing for this thread to be made by some bitter middle aged femcel, right as Taylor breaks a huge set of records and enjoys massive success. Stay salty!

I don’t know if my TikTok is feeding me sh!t, but Im now 100% convinced that Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss dated. And that some of TSwifts most amazing songs are about losing Karlie.

Great War is about how she wished her relationship with Karlie had gone. Exile is about their breakup. Right where you left me is about being left in the closet (restaurant) when Karlie did not want her to come out.

It actually makes her music so much more interesting.

Spend some time looking at gaylor hashtags and let me know what you think!

Absolutely love her. And love how mad her success makes her haters!! Suck it OP!!!!
Anonymous
It must be so awful for TS that DCUMers hate hate hate her. And to be the first artist ever to claim the entire top 10 list on Billboard 100 with songs from your just released 10th album. So sad! Can’t she just do better? And fix her bangs.
Anonymous
She may be successful, but she’s not my cup of anything.
Anonymous
I agree totally. Her voice is mediocre and she can’t dance but puts on a sleezy strip show. Disgusting

Wrong person. We aren't discussing Miley Cyrus here.
