Taylor Swift is awful (and her music isn't even very good)

You’re welcome.

Like, can you just not step on our gowns, OP? We see you over there on the internet, comparing all the girls who are killing it

Lol "gowns" please -- the floral Reformation dress you wore for the last Swift concert is not a gown and you aren't killing it, you are being taken for a ride by a woman who wants ALL your disposable income for herself.

#girlsquad #girlpower #swiftiesunite

I’m dead. Is anyone else enjoying this as much as I am?

Yup, good times.

Counterpoint: her songs are bad, especially the lyrics.

This is actually exactly the kind of thing that annoys me about Taylor Swift fans. Quoting her lyrics doesn't make you clever, anymore than quoting the Simpsons makes middle aged men clever.

Please have an original thought.

I’m not a huge TS fan but her music I’d good. Sorry if he, all of us are just a gaslit nation and you were the one voice of reason lol she’s a lot of really good songs by lyrically and just catchy tunes. I’m considering this year sales for albums, number of hits singles, life shoes, you are just wrong.

I don’t care that she’s full of revenge. She has a right.
The Kanye West thing still infuriates me when I think about it. He never would’ve done that to a dude but because she was a young girl, sure, humiliating her and stepping n her big moment is fine?

Nope, sorry not sorry. I’m so glad his life is completely falling apart and she has done nothing but rise higher.

The point isn’t to be clever, the point is to irritate you. It’s working!

Lol PP. I’m not really even a Taylor Swift fan. I just love the obliviousness of the people who are proving her point.

This is hilarious that a grown woman hates Taylor Swift. You are not her target audience.

However it is also fun that you are triggered by this. LOL

OK on my phone and none of this makes sense except the end. All this to say, a lot of people clearly like her music, and you are not the one sane voice of reason amongst them all OP. And hell yeah I’m glad she got revenge on Kanye.

Can anyone remember what it is the haters are gonna do?

At this point, adult women are indeed her target audience. I'd say women in their late 20s through their 30s is her key demo. Some kids like her stuff too but it's the grown women who are driving her sales numbers and buying her concert tickets.

You’re the one taking time out of your day to be on a thread about a musician you hate.

Is OP? OP is the one who felt the need to post an old article about why Taylor Swift is no good. It's one many, many articles out there about why Taylor Swift is no good, but OP seemed to think it would make them look edgy and insightful. Finger on the pulse, you rebel!

Look, here's Taylor shutting down a cranky old man who has outlived his usefulness on the public stage:

I'm not a huge Swift fan, and don't know that much about her. But it is kind of funny/ironic that one of her most popular songs is about people hating her on the internet and why don't they use their time in a better way....so it seems like an apt response to OP's post, and OP really asked for it.

She's not like the artist of our generation or anything, but I have a couple of her songs on my playlist for walking the dog. I have about 400 songs on that playlist, the main criteria for which are: 1) not depressing; and 2) fast enough beat to make sure I keep a decent pace and don't dawdle. Bonus points is the lyrics are simple enough that I can sing along without stopping to google them. It's got a lot of female power pop on it, actually, include Janet Jackson, Lady Gaga, Cyndi Lauper, Shakira...

And I can respect TS for being majorly successful and not strung out on drugs or going on a homophobic/racist/sexist rant online. I know that's a low bar, but there's a lot of celebrities that can't meet it.

She’s up there with Cher, Madonna, Elton, Celine, etc. in terms of definitely having a catalogue and following that will ensure longevity. She will still be doing stadium tours 20 years from now, and she will definitely have a Vegas run. Her catalogue could be converted to a Broadway show.

It’s fine to not like pop music, but she’s talented and successful. Those are facts, not opinions.
