People have repeatedly explained that in addition to not liking her music, she’s somewhat two-faced politically (claiming feminism when she can personally benefit but being oddly silent on feminist issues outside those instances when she could use her fame to help others) and her public persona seems to claim victimhood a lot for someone who is obviously quite privileged and successful. But I guess if you want to just ignore valid criticism then it’s like it’s not there. |
Only wealthy and UMC (and therefore mostlywhite) women can afford Taylor tix. In my circle, those women are now moms who take their own kids to Taylor Swift concerts. Swift is definitely working her way thru 2nd and even 3rd generation fans. |
You mean that you think she’s two-faced. The PP was asking why you spend so much time reading about Swift and critiquing her every move when you don’t even like her music. That’s why you all seem obsessed. Then there is someone in this thread who doesn’t like Swift’s music, hates Swift the individual, and hates her fans. They’re putting way more energy into their hobby than the so-called devout fans on this board. |
You can say it until you are blue in the face but it doesn’t make you seem rational and less crazy. |
I don’t read up on Taylor Swift or pay much attention to her. I catch headlines about her and have seen interviews with her on shows like Seth Myers (which I watch for other reasons, not for Swift content). She’s a very famous person— it’s easy to be exposed to info about her without making an effort. My opinion her her based on this passive exposure is not great. I have also tried listening to her albums and I don’t get the hype. I would have loved it when in was 16 but it sounds immature to me now. I compare her to artists like Fiona Apple, Lorde, or Tori Amos (who all also write their own music and Apple and Amos play their own music as well), who have evolved and matured as artists. I am unimpressed with Swift’s music. This requires almost no energy of me whatsoever. I wrote this response in two minutes while lying in bed and now will stop thinking about Taylor Swift entirely. |
+1 I like Taylor Swift, she's the same age as me and I've enjoyed listening to her albums over the past 15 years. Her music has gotten me through some hard times and is a familiar comfort to listen to at times. Really though, some of you "haters" do appear to be obsessed with her. I follow her on social media and will read an article about her if I come across one, but after reading through this thread, I don't know nearly as much about her as some of you seem to know. Why do you spend so much time reading and following someone you hate? There are so many artists I don't care for and I just don't follow them. I would never consider starting a thread about how much I hate them because that would mean I would have to invest time in reading about them to give all the reasons why I hate them. I mean, I'm not overly fond of Ariana Grande, but I would never take the time or energy to research her enough to start a hate thread about her. I just skip her songs..... |
That makes sense. I'm a millennial who listen to different artists in HS/college, but I'm not out on the internet defending every move they make. I enjoy some of Taylor's music, but whenever I see a tweet about her, all the replies are "sHe iS SOOOO iCoNic" and "I can't wait to buy five copies of this album!" Even some of the replies on this thread were people quite clearly upset that some people don't like Taylor and/or her music. The parasocial relationship she has created with their fans, such that they need to defend this multi-millionaire like she's some tiny flower, is wild. |
My gay (male) Latino boss told me he saw her on his last tour. And he is childless.Tickets right up front. So that is one anectdote that says you are wrong. |
+1 I get that some people like her and her music, I just can't imagine going to bat for her on the internet. I have musicians whose music I love but I know very little about their private lives and if I saw a thread or headline criticizing them I'd just move on with my life. This thread is 30 pages long because of the Swift supporters who can't bear to read a negative opinion about her without responding, not because of the overwhelming vitriol against her (it's mild at best). That should tell you something. |
This thread wouldn't exist except but for the person who thought everyone needed to know how much she hated Taylor Swift. What does that tell you? If OP wants to put their opinion out there, people are free to respond. Why is that so hard to take for people like you? |
My 9 year old loves her. I have never owned or bought any TS music or gone to her concerts. Maybe you underestimate who her fans are? They could be a bunch of little girls. Yet grown women are spending their time complaining about her when it's so easy to just ignore. |
How moronic and embarassingly fragile do you have to be to convince yourself that, there can only be one person who 'hates' swift? People like you are just so...how do i even say this nicely ? Dumb? Even tween girls aren't this gullible. What kind of alchemy did you come up with to know for certain only one person on this thread isn't into your cult of personality. Sad. |
Another one with teen girl reasoning. At the the beginning of this thread someone said swift fans have serious arrested development syndrome qnd he was right . You embody it . |
I mean, out of the curiosity , is it even appropriate to take kids to her concert? How old are those kids ? |
Let me guess you think the appropriate spelling is 'connoisseur' . No wonder you're a swift fan . Piss poor taste in music tracks closely with piss poor knowledge of foreign words and their appropriate spellings. Its CONNAISSEUR, indeed. Its also not a big word unless , in your uncultured case, any foreign word is a 'big word'. |
