Did they get a vaccine before giving notice?

We need teachers vaccinated. We need virtual teachers vaccinated. We need hybrid teachers vaccinated. We need teachers returning at a later date vaccinated.

If you're talking about things we need, we need for teachers not to quit in March. Vaccinated or unvaccinated. But we don't get what we need, do we?

We need for parents to stop sh1tting on teachers 24x7.

If you're taking a leave of absence, then you're not an active teacher. Those individuals can get in line with their same aged cohort. They shouldn't jump in front of high risk seniors.

Now, in February? Or earlier in the school year, such as last fall?

Last March. Again. I’m not a teacher. I’m sharing that not all of us have a work from home option.

I do work now, but it’s on weekends or the odd day my spouse can work from home. I can only work on site.

well look at it this way. The more people who leave, the more you may be able to hire as a tutor for hybrid next year.

That’s not how vaccination allocation works. if someone could give up their shot and we know that it would go to a senior I think many of us would make that choice. But it’s not set up that way. You can be upset about it, many of us are, many of us feel shame about it but it doesn’t change the way the system is set up. We go in the order that were called. And that’s just going to have to be good enough.

If you quit, sorry take leave, then you're not a teacher anymore. You're just an unemployed person. Like all the other millions of Americans right now.

They just don't feel safe going back to school, I am wondering how many more teachers will end of taking leave after the kids go back next week.

Schools had a choice: approve ADA accommodations to continue teaching virtual or accept that some teachers would take leave.

All of the teachers are returning in person in our APS elementary school. I’m not aware of any wide-spread issue with teachers taking LOAs instead of returning.

Actually, that is how it's working. Arlington prioritized healthcare workers, then teachers and then opened it up to seniors. If someone who doesn't intend to teach takes a vaccine, they are literally taking it from the pool that would go to a senior. The system in no way forces someone who doesn't intent to keep teaching to receive a vaccine now. They can register through the state like everyone else and wait.

Thank you, Captain Obvious. Why are you so fixated on this non-issue?

Having childcare issues doesn't qualify you for an ADA accommodation!?!

Fortunately, this is a nonissue so you can move on to the next thing to obsess over.

What non-issue? You mean this thread? Why are you posting here if you don't care?

If someone says they’re not going to take the vaccine because they want another person to take it, it doesn’t automatically go to that person. So you can have your self righteous anger but it doesn’t change what’s happening.
