Should coaches be getting vaccinated ahead of essential employees?

In Fairfax and Arlington currently you cannot get a vaccine unless you are in the priority groups. AND, they started cancelling priority group 1b (65 and over) because they ran out of vaccines. So, yes, it’s surprising to see people in the very, very lowest risk category taking priority over the highest risk category.

INOVA cancelled all upcoming scheduled vaccinations for first doses because they ran out of vaccines. These high risk 1b may now not get a first dose until April.

Yes, this happened to my wife, who has a serious health condition and is under 65 and part of inova 360. Guess what? You can get the vaccine elsewhere!! Please do your homework folks. INOVA is not the only place to go.

Where else is there to go? Isn’t it just the FAIRFAX health department and Inova?

Apparently there is a lot of vaccine in Alexandria, so much so, that we have started vaccinating our youth soccer coaches. Just call the cities health department tell them what you’ve heard and they’ll sign you up.

I can't offer details, as my son is too old, but since it is held in Alexandria City school buildings, I assume it is licensed and insured.

Let me see if I understand this... Kids can’t go to school for a host of reasons, but private groups can use closed school buildings to make money by offering childcare to rich kids. Putting aside the ridiculous idea about soccer clubs magically being transformed into licensed, insured and qualified daycares, what local government sees this as a progressive solution to today’s challenges?

I get that, and it is frustrating, given that ACPS has not enabled even children with very severe disabilities to come back for in-person instruction. But that is an issue with ACPS vs. Alexandria Soccer.

LOL, Rich kids don't go to childcare provided by a county.

Why would you get a vaccine anyways? Covid won’t kill you unless you’ve made a lot of bad choices or have really bad genes

Which is why I do not take and will not take the vaccine. I coach and teach in public HS. People will not like it but I operate maskless due to medical note.

Luckily I was blessed with great mental strength besides genes so it’ll be easy to ignore the attacks and lawsuits derived from my maskless choice.

It's not provided by a county. It is provided through a 501(c)(3) entity in a public school building, and costs around $2100 a month.

And you don't think that staff who are working closely with kids should not be vaccinated?

Not at the expense of the elderly, at risk populations and actual essential workers in the neighborhood getting vaccinated. The staff, who are in their 20s and 30s should be in the last phase of vaccinations, they are no better than the Canadian couple that flew off to an indigenous tribe to get vaccinated. These individuals should be charged with a crime. More evidence that the bozos at that club care only about themselves, and now potentially at the expense of somebody else’s life. Disgusting.

I am the person who posted the cost, and sure, I think they should be vaccinated. However, what I was responding to was the person's false assertions that: 1) the childcare is provided by the county, 2) the kids who attend there are not rich.

They might have gotten on those call lists for people to come and take leftover vax doses at the end of the day.
They may have a second job as in HC

No. That’s not how it works in Alexandria. They asserted that they were teachers and that they were essential. They are no more teachers than all the parents teaching their kids at home. The club lied to the city to get themselves vaccinations. That is the type of people they are...

You will benefit from the herd immunity available as the population gets vaccinated - just as all other anti- vaxxers benefit.

They are teachers that teach soccer.
They are pros who have a license to teach soccer not a volunteer parent coach.
Is a private school teacher any more essential since they usually teach in a smaller setting than the average club soccer coach?

Yes. Academic instruction is more important than instruction in soccer. That is not a serious question.

In your option .. Is a pe teacher more important? a music teacher? a librarian? They all teach... soccer teaches teamwork, problem solving , competitiveness. all things there are more important or just as important as the Louisiana purchase or appreciation for fine art or classical music.
