The Bachelor 2021- Matt James

He was Tyler's friend. I think he was part of the "quaranteam" including Tyler and Hannah which was going through the rumor mill at the time the pandemic started. They were the focus before they came up with the bachelorette season. Ivan was too soon to choose, and they had to pick a black guy fast. The pressure was on due to the racial things going on and Rachel making a big stink. Clare is not letting go of Dale. She wants her babieeeessss!

After last weeks episode Matt apparently claimed that it was his choice to keep Victoria, not the producers, but I’m having a hard time believing it

Just starting watching episode 2 now. The women look 1000 times better in normal clothes vs prom/formal dresses!

It makes me laugh how they portray Nemacolin. It’s nice, but not that nice. I got rooms this time last year for $250/night. Now they are asking $750! In the opening scenes they put the girls up in the cheaper rooms, not “the Chateau”.

There are more date options so I think it will be better than Claire / Tayshia’s season.

Yes! DH was like, why haven’t we gone there, but I really didn’t think it was that nice!

Matt James? The lead? I haven’t seen that thread. He is very good friends with Tyler Cameron, who is also part of the bachelor franchise. Would it be related to that? I don’t think they are together…

DP. I saw on some bottom tier gossip forum people speculated that he and Tyler were secretly together....and I would like to see that. Tyler is fine af.

It would have been a good match except that she likes older white guys. I'm thinking ahead that if their relationships don't work out, they might wind up on BIP together.

Matt strikes me as uninterested in black and black adjacent women.

It's not surprising. I'm sure he's subconsciously influenced by his white, southern mother who raised him.

It’s not! We went to a wedding there which is lovely but once you leave the property the area is a complete dump!

You are not wrong.

That ATV stunt was seriously dangerous. People have had terrible accidents with long term damage from them

He isn't, they are giving us fresh blood during covid. I think that was probably needed, someone who isnt already making a bunch of their living from being on the shows

He was supposed to be a contestant on Clare/Taysha's season, but the filming was delayed and the producers had to make a call for the Bachelor. The producers decided to take a chance with Matt.

I think there are some really interesting contestants, but of course instead of really letting us get to know them and delve into their backgrounds and interests, the show is going to give us week after week of manufactured drama and petty catfighting. Not looking forward to that. One would hope that with all of the women having to have declared deep Christian faith to be eligible for this season, this would be the kinder gentler cast. Not holding my breath.

I continue to be amazed that this show is so popular among the conservative/religious set. Is this why it took so long to start casting POCs and why there has never been a LGBTQIA season? The entire concept of dating 20+ people at the same time and eliminating the unworthy one by one just seems so...unchaste.

That resort looks fabulous and will be on my post-pandemic local-ish travel list.

Wait really? Isn’t it one person hooking up with multiple people? On camera?
(I don’t watch the show but my impressions are there’s lots of sex or action)

He seems kinda boring. Apparently his mom is a Trumpet and he was a registered republican as of last year, now unregistered. Not sure how I feel about the first black Bachelor being a republican

Wouldn't you assume that someone who changed party affiliation or dropped it during the last 4 years as an R would be decidedly anti-Trumper?

No, I think he knows he is going to get a lot of coverage and be scrutinized due to his role on the show, and he wanted to avoid the backlash.

This!

Also I’m AA and there are so many more attractive black guys that they could have picked. Even from the bachelor! He is just such a bitter face.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

There isn't lots of sex or action. There is lots of kissing sometimes, and the fantasy suites with the last 3 contestants which is left to the imagination, since it's off camera. They did have a lesbian story line in BIP one time, and they got engaged but later broke up (and maybe turned straight). I forget the girl's name.

Matt seems like a very genuine and caring guy. Kind of naive on how this all works. I feel sorry for him that he is like a lamb in a wolves' den.

I was really surprised that there wasn't a contingent of women who had become friends with Sarah who would stick up for her. It seemed like ALL of them were out to get her. They sure do make themselves look absolutely horrible. Victoria reminds me so much of all the actresses who have played Cinderella's ugly stepsisters over the years. She would be perfectly cast for it.

He worked at my company a few years back and we have mutual friends and have hung out a few times. He is thought of as a wonderfully kind and nice guy - we all agreed not to watch the show because we don’t want to taint our view but I couldn’t help but glance at this thread to see what others thought!

Because it is always about race.
