Still, the La Quinta Resort (I stand corrected) looks like it has one story, whereas NemaColin has a massive like 5 story building. Plus CH got to fly there. No one flew anywhere for the bachelorette(s). Matt James is from the east coast so he could driven. It just seemed like this is fancier and on a larger scale than the airstream date and the cardboard taxi and the bagel stand. |
He was supposed to be a contestant on Clare/Taysha's season, but the filming was delayed and the producers had to make a call for the Bachelor. The producers decided to take a chance with Matt. I think there are some really interesting contestants, but of course instead of really letting us get to know them and delve into their backgrounds and interests, the show is going to give us week after week of manufactured drama and petty catfighting. Not looking forward to that. One would hope that with all of the women having to have declared deep Christian faith to be eligible for this season, this would be the kinder gentler cast. Not holding my breath. I continue to be amazed that this show is so popular among the conservative/religious set. Is this why it took so long to start casting POCs and why there has never been a LGBTQIA season? The entire concept of dating 20+ people at the same time and eliminating the unworthy one by one just seems so...unchaste. That resort looks fabulous and will be on my post-pandemic local-ish travel list. |
Out of curiosity I checked out r/Bachelor_POC. Since the PP didn't bother to warn you, I will: DO NOT go here if you do not want to be spoiled for the season. While ostensibly the posts use spoiler tags, A LOT of them have the name of the F1 in the subject line. Welp, now that I know who it is...might as well jump into ALL of the discussions about it. |

These DCUM Bachelor/ette threads always blow my mind because I tend to think the opposite of whatever is being stated.
I think he's extremely attractive AND seems to be a good person, so that makes him even more attractive. One noticeable difference between him and most other Bachelors is that he takes conversation to the next level. For example, asking Mari from Puerto Rico about her family and how they fared with the hurricanes. Asking Abigail more about her relationship with her sister (who is also Deaf) and how she felt about Abigail going on the show. Actual conversation rather than surface level "mmhmm that's AMAZING!" like most Bachelors. I didn't know he was a Republican. While that's not appealing to me on a personal level I will find it interesting to see how it plays out in the show. I'm looking forward to this season! |
Thanks, I had to google to see which one he was- they all blend! |
She’s gorgeous! Didn’t get much air time |
|
The male leads are always boring. (except Juan Pablo). They are just the backdrop for the contestants to supply the drama.
|
| I don’t watch the show but is there not a thread about him being a gay or bisexual man that appears to have a boyfriend? |
Matt James? The lead? I haven’t seen that thread. He is very good friends with Tyler Cameron, who is also part of the bachelor franchise. Would it be related to that? I don’t think they are together… |
Laughing. Laughing so hard. |
|
I like Matt James, I’m excited to see how the season goes but don’t think he’ll end up engaged.
It makes me laugh how they portray Nemacolin. It’s nice, but not that nice. I got rooms this time last year for $250/night. Now they are asking $750! In the opening scenes they put the girls up in the cheaper rooms, not “the Chateau”. There are more date options so I think it will be better than Claire / Tayshia’s season. |
| I wonder how Tayshia and Matt would have gotten along? They both are religious, about the same age, both biracial. It would have been a good match except that she likes older white guys. I'm thinking ahead that if their relationships don't work out, they might wind up on BIP together. |
Is this true? How do you know? This explains SO much... I had no idea who he was- he was some other bachelor's friend it sounds like? But even after they explained where they found him I am still totally unclear where they found him or why this particular guy was such a standout catch to producers- when so many other black contestants have wowed me way more (hello, Ivan or Dale after he and Clare break up) I would have had to peace out after he launched into that prayer at the first cocktail hour- and I was shocked by how all the women (sheep) in the room dropped their heads immediately and went along with it- I was surprised no one seemed fazed/weirded out. Didn't know he was republican or his mother was a trumpster but that frees up more room on my DVR to not bother with this season. I was thinking as he was so religious he would have been a good fit for Tayshia as well (if she wasn't into aged-looking white failures). I find him kind of knobby-looking and not attractive but I must say I was blown away by how attractive the women all are- really beautiful (though really lame jobs/not sounding terribly accomplished). Except that gummy one horsey one calling herself 'Queen'- DH and I were surprised she is still going along with her 'Queen' thing after actually seeing/realizing literally every other woman was more beautiful and had a nicer personality. |
|
I know, the Queen has to go. He let go other women that were probably much better. I wonder if they make them keep people for drama.
He was Tyler's friend. I think he was part of the "quaranteam" including Tyler and Hannah which was going through the rumor mill at the time the pandemic started. They were the focus before they came up with the bachelorette season. Ivan was too soon to choose, and they had to pick a black guy fast. The pressure was on due to the racial things going on and Rachel making a big stink. Clare is not letting go of Dale. She wants her babieeeessss! |
Yes, may she get knocked up quickly and remain healthy. |
