Solidcore in phase 2

I don’t get it — if wearing masks during the workout is not mandated (or only lip service — when entering and exiting studio— how is this in compliance with indoor settings and how can it possibly be safe?

Yeah. At least in some of the markets they are in they definitely aren’t compliant. Also the email seemed to imply masks indoors were a new thing—which certainly isn’t the case in my area.

I totally think this was lip service. Masks are already mandated inside businesses in the DMV (right?) but it's the 50 minutes of breathing hard when you really need them...

So in MoCo studios, masks are now required DURING the workout per an email that came through this morning. Very curious to see if it'll be enforced. Also wondering why this isn't the case in District studios...

MoCo actually has a requirement for gyms, which Solidcore wasn't complying with at first, that makes masks mandatory even during working out. I don't know if DC has this requirement. I am not sure Solidcore is doing a great job keeping up with all the various rules in each state/county, etc. I am sympathetic that there are many rules and that it is ever changing, but their inability to keep track makes me even more wary about their policies and judgement.

The idea of being inside the SC studio while we’re still in the first wave strikes me as reckless, but there’s obviously a lot of clients filling classes. Maybe it’s because SC clients are more likely to be young and, consequently, less focused on the impact infection could have on elderly parents or spouse/children. I’m an old lady (if we’re going by SC standards) and I’ve got too many family members in my house to risk bringing home the virus. Also, as a parent, I’m used to giving up things I enjoy to accommodate everyone around me. If I were a 20-something professional who lived alone it might not seem like a big deal to risk it.

It makes me so sad. I had just a month of classes under my belt when the shutdown happened and it was the best workout I’d ever done. I hope to return one day but right now, a small studio with people who are breathing extremely hard and sweating all over, just seems unsafe.
I agree a home version (an affordable one) would be amazing.

Did you tell them why? I’m deciding whether to go the extra step and tell them that I don’t think their precautions come close to being sufficient.

Yes. I just told them that I didn’t feel safe in that environment, that it seemed like a recipe for virus transmission.

Did they respond to you at all?

DC does not have this requirement.

I had a monthly unlimited for $300/month. They’re cancelling it and told me I can return at that same rate when I’m ready. Totally fine with me!

Did they change rates bc this is the rate for the monthly unlimited on the app?

Yes—they told me that was the new monthly unlimited rate. Interesting walk back of their big price increase from a few years ago.

Yes, they told me they’d end my monthly payment and they hope to see me back in the future. No problem.
I do hope to be back eventually— hope their business will survive

They also just emailed new changes, I’m assuming based on the survey they recently sent around.

Well, that doesn't sound good.
I hope solidcore can find a way to keep their business going safely during covid. It is such a great workout. I miss it.
